Some good choices form you lads. Good to see and Irish Prog featured channel. Agree about A Trick of The Tail, I think it is Post-Gabriel Masterpiece. It's true once Steve left it was never the same as they rejected a lot of the material he out forward, which he of course used on his own albums. That being said I still think Phil did a great job on vocals on Seconds Out, and always performed all the old songs/medleys live brilliantly. And Then There Were Three seemed so disjointed a record, but had some brilliant tracks on it like Down And Out, Deep In The Motherlode and Burning Rope, but really missed the romanticism of Steve's contributions. Duke I thought was a better album all in all, Duke's Travels I thought was very 'proggy' and seemed like a Swansong to the 70's even though it was as 80s album. Good vid again guys and thanks for posting.

Forum and the Long Beach Arena in May 1972, Led Zeppelin was the real deal, they were the template for Hard Rock Bands to come. From '69 through '77 I was very lucky to see Led Zeppelin 39 times, including the 2nd & 3rd concerts at MSG in NYC which became the film "TSRTS", powerful concerts those two nights. But a little disappointed with some of the 'live' three album set. That's why my #1 'live' album is "How The West Was Won"🎸🎤🎸🥁..........Bonzo 🥁 R.I.P. 🙏 (P.S. A Big Nod to FREE LIVE recorded in January, March, September of 1970, Released right after the band broke up in 1971, it went to #4 in the U.K. Brilliant 'live' album, great bass solo by Andy Fraser 🙏 on "Mr. Big", Kossoff brilliant as usual but gone too soon 🙏, Simon Kirke rock steady behind the kit and Paul Rogers one of the great vocalist in rock history) 👍

However you both omitted what is (in my humble opinion) by far and away greatest live album of all time, namely The Who Live In Leeds. Raw, produced from virginal master tapes the power of what was the greatest live rock combo of all time, when played at No 11 through your amp, unleashes unbridled mayhem and joy to the senses. Close your eyes whilst listening and you’re there in the auditorium watching the mastery of Entwistle, the mania of Moon, the brilliance of Townshend and the craft of Daltry. Allman Brothers "Live at the Fillmore East". This album likely preceeded the start date of your list. The little known overseas lead & slide guitarist was a session player at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoales Alabama playing guitar for a Who's Who of soul, jazz, blues and R&B artists. By chance Eric Clapton asked him to play on 10 of the 14 songs on the album "Layla & Other assorted Love Songs". He created the lead riff on the song "Layla" and played slide guitar to complement Eric's lead guitar. He was the "Lead guitarist" on "Why does love got to be so sad". Eric asked Duane Allman to join Derek & The Dominos. He did play live with the Dominos at 2 concerts, however, declined to join D & D. He had more ambitious plans in creating "The Allman Brothers Band.

Those are all fabulous choices. I have a number of those, mostly on vinyl, but some on CD. MIJ is and always will be my favorite live album. It is just great from start to finish. Don't sleep on the Live In Japan three concert set, though. The way they change things around for each song is just something to enjoy. I believe that they chose the tracks on MIJ, because they had better sound quality than some of the others, which they fixed, as technology was improved in that department. West is the best Zep live album. It was recorded before Page's and Bonham's addictions started to affect their live performances later on, notably in 1975 and later. One night great and the next, not so much. Either way, this is an excellent channel and I subscribed.

The best live album ever, no post production fakery, the loudest band in the world: Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs Live at Sunbury 1972, double album. Billy was a child prodigy immigrant to Australia from England. The Aztecs were a big influence on ACDC. The drummer for the Aztecs, Gil Matthews, was also a prodigy and was mentored by Buddy Rich in 1959 in the USA. At one concert, the Aztecs famously damaged the stone foundations of the Melbourne Town Hall and cracked the windows of nearby buildings - part of the concert footage is on KZbin. Deep Purple and Queen played Sunbury in subsequent years (Australia's Woodstock/Glastonbury). Famously, ACDC and the roadies for Purple had a brawl.

Quite possible the ultimate in classic HARD rock... - Welcome Back...: ELP at their absolute apex. Fantastic covers of classical pieces, fantastic solo segments, fantastic versions of their own stuff, fantastic variety... fantastic... fantastic... - Live at Carnegie Hall: Renaissance at their apex. Annie Haslam sends me into ecstasy while Jon Camp's bass solo as a fully fleshed out composition is maybe the best ever... - Live 2009: Mostly Autumn besting their classic forebears. From tight, short, and beautitul songs to lengthy epic compositions with excellent ensemble playing and individual musicianship... - 9012Live, The Solos: perfection with it's mix of classic prog individual musicianship and modern rock sonwriting. - All CTS live: Crack The Sky is always my secret weapon on lists like this. Having seen them 30+ times out of 500+ concerts in all, I love to tout the musicianship and songwriting of my local boys (originally from Pittsburgh, settled later on in the Baltimore/Annapolis area). I must also stress that - live on stage - they superior to most of and are at least the equal of everybody and anybody on stage that I have seen live in my life. @@CloseToTheEdge-Prog Ah, though you must of heard the song "Slow Ride"? That's Foghat. Today only the drummer Roger Earl is still active, which IMO makes them a tribute band now. FYI 3 of the original players came from the British Blues band Savoy Brown. Anyway, give FOGHAT LIVE 1977 a listen. Originally it was supposed to be a double live album, but their record company didn't think LIVE albums did well, so there are only 6 songs.
