I had the privilege of attending a live performance of a similar drum group. Awesome. I could feel every drum beat resonating in my chest. Totally incredible.

Not the same as being in person n feeling all the different drums vibrate through your body. Miss that.

It's like a martial art by itself. What a workout! That'd get rid of a bit of tension. Powerful stuff!

Oh, to BE there. I WISH I could be. Drums that big have such a huge sound that it echoes inside your chest. Your blood starts pumping to the rhythm. You can feel the echo in your bones. Headphones just don’t do this justice.

I love your comment. Echo in your bones. I've never thought of it that way. Thank you.

Doesn't have the same rhythm or spiritualness to it but if you just want thunder in your chest just go to an NHRA drag meet. You will feel the thunder and its awesome.

Today was my lucky day, I had never heard of this group before, and magically it appeared in my KZbin list while I was listening to other groups, so I checked them out. Wonderful performance! They are bookmarked now :) and are now one of my new favorites! It was also refreshing to see female performers in this Kodo group. I have always loved Kodo performances. Some of my friends complain that drum concerts give them headaches. I can understand that. But to me, drums of any kind, bring my spirit alive, they celebrate where I came from, and give me the energy to carry on. Many thanks!

I love this. Drums are my favorite instrument. They always have been. Some people have tried to force me to like other things, to have a false identity and it made me very sick and depressed. Drums make me feel ALIVE. I know what's good for me.🎉❤

My interest in Japan was first stoked by the mini-series James Clavell's "Shogun." As a United States Marine, I was stationed in Japan from 1985-1986. During that time, I developed a deep respect for Japanese culture which is with me to this day. Witnessing the intensity of these amazing musicians I can't help but think back to a movie line from The Last Samurai: "These people dedicate themselves to the perfection of everything they do." Watching this video, who could disagree?

It's definitely something to put on your bucket list. I have seen both Kodo and Yamato live, and these recordings, as amazing as they are, do no justice to watching taiko live. You don't hear the drums, you feel them. It almost literally takes your breath away. I can only imagine what it is like for the performers themselves

It’s actually not that hard to be that in sync. It just takes practice. Literally all music with more than one person requires that kind of synchronicity.

I’m hearing this in Canada and I find it almost as powerful as the bag pipes,very powerful.
@MicaDeMijatovic Жыл бұрын
As the bag pipes?
@56studebaker Жыл бұрын
Hello Mica, my comment stating the drums are almost as powerful as the bag pipes is meant as a compliment with respect to the stirring of emotion for example when soldiers on a battle field marched forward to the sounds of the pipes playing. If you have no Scottish heritage it likely means little to you but essentially that’s what my comment was trying to imply.
