Rittreck View Camera Overview

Today's video is an overview of the underrated Rittreck View camera from Japan. I discuss the features and functions of the camera and most importantly show how to open an close it easily. This is actually a native sized 5x7 camera but with a 4x5 reducing back which is the way it is most commonly found today. It was a modular design allowing for quite a variety of film sizes with the appropriate accessory back. It is quite sturdy which equates to a nearly 10 pound camera. Maybe not the one for the really long hikes but certainly no worries on those windy days.

Thank you very much for demonstrating this camera. I just got myself one with both 5x7 and 4x5 back and I had checked out your video before deciding. Out in the field I suddenly was stuck.... what??!! no front swing?? Phew... had to see your video again - and of course it had front swing. Again - thanks for the video!

Also, inireshop on eBay sells 3D printed from PET Copolymer boards for the Rittreck that I've found to work very well.

I received mine back from CLA and learned the front standard will not rise if the little lever next to the lens board loading flap is open.

Thanks for the video, I'm considering get one w/ 4x5 back from Japan, but I cannot find anything on using wide angle lens on it. Does the 90mm or 75mm clear the bed of the camera off the frame?

I briefly tried a 90mm on it and I think it did clear the bed but the problem I ran into was almost no movements with the standard bellows. I don’t believe they make wide angle bellows for it as the rear seem to be attached directly to the camera body and not removable, but I could be wrong. Thanks so much for watching!

It “might be more depending on the lens you have”?? Perhaps you could direct me to the super special lenses that literally weigh nothing?

I have one and my original bellows seems to made of thin paper and holes started to alppear. Where did you got new bellows for it?

This camera already them when I bought it, but you can get them on eBay.
