Rituals for Mariamman, the Goddess of rain and fertility. Village festival near Arunachala, India.

Māriamman is a goddess in the rural areas of South India. Mari means rain and Amman means mother.
Mariamman is the family deity in some parts of Tamil Nadu. It is a custom initially to worship the family deity on occasions such as weddings.
The worship is accompanied by the folk dance called Karagam. Offerings such as pongal and koozh that are cooked using earthen pots are also made during the festival.

Roots of Indian culture is very deep like ocean Mariamman and karupu swamy are ancient gods where Vedic gods are not existed in that time but people of India still carries this type rituals One solid proof for this giving offerings to God like animals goats ,chicken some times desi alcohol and local cigar to please the gods
