If you stay three or more nights Riu will give you your Covid Test for free. You just schedule it at the front desk and they will make your appointment 2 days before you leave and email the results. Great video, I love the Playacar RIUs.

Is this for the antigen test or the PCR? That was not our experience. We had to pay $125 USD per person for our PCR tests when we went 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe things have changed?

@@WherewegoingNext This was an Antigen test just to get back in the US. A PCR is only needed if the antigen test came back negative but there are symptoms present like the ones listed. Otherwise the antigen test is fine for re-entry. Some of the travel agencies offer the PCR without explanation of the entire screening process. They just say testing is necessary. Most recently, I was in Riu Playacar in September and Riu Costa Mujeres in October. No issues. In RIU Palace Costa Mujeres they book your test at check in. Very convenient.

It differs for every country - for example for us, we are required to have a negative PCR test to re-enter Canada… so sadly we had to pay.

Do you mean Riu Palace Mexico or Riu Palace Riviera Maya? (There is no Riu Palace playa del Carmen) We prefer any of the Palace resorts because they tend to have better rooms, food, amenities and service.

We definitely recommend the RIU Palace Riviera Maya. It has the best food, best rooms and best service 👍🏻 Playa del Carmen is about a 10 minute taxi ride or a 30 minute walk 👍🏻

Yes, the RIU Playacar did have the alcohol back in the rooms 🙌🏻 all of the Palace resorts did as well.

Yes, that is the price for a PCR test, not a rapid antigen test. Rapid tests are much cheaper. Canada requires PCR tests upon return home, but that differs based on which country you are from.
