So happy that you guys enjoy the Sons. I've seen them 7 times (I think). They actually supported Black Sabbath on every date on Sabbath's final world tour - every single date. Crrrrrrrriminally underrated band. The thing is, they are better live! Jay, the singer, is such a great vocalist and front man.

Took my kids to see them live. We walked out and I put on an album as we drove home, and one of my kids said with complete surprise, "this sounds EXACTLY the same as what we just listened to live!" I also introduced them to my parents and uncles, and they now have dedicated fans across 3 generations within my family. This is a fantastic group I've followed for years, and their music is only getting better with time. I dig how they blend classic rock with a modern sound. Seeing them open for Sabbath a couple of times was phenominal - Sabbath is as much a fan of Rival Sons as these guys are of Sabbath! You called it right, this is playlist. Keep diving into their music, guys. Anytime you want to listen to soulful, solid rock n' roll, you just can't go wrong with Rival Sons - Open My Eyes, Sugar on the Bone, Electric Man, Jordan, Keep on Swingin', you can pick anything.

Saw both of them on this current tour. Rival Sons absolutely blew them out of the water without all of the gimmicks and pyrotechnics. It was a little sad though because the pit was maybe a 1/4 full compared to Greta Van Fleet. All the screaming Greta Van Fleet fan girls were busy buying merch and beers.

@@chuckech33seam a Greta Van Fleet and Rival Sons and Dirty Honey and Kaleo fanboi in 2023 now.😅 The only thing Greta Van Fleet is doing better than others is just in terms of marketing is, they are actually copying music right out of 1960s and 70s, which connects them to a larger audience. Honestly, Rival Sons are not better than Greta Van Fleet and *vice versa*. They both are extremely good. It's just that people hate GVF because they are getting all the attention but honestly speaking they are very talented as much as Rival sons are if not better.

@@shree397 All great bands. I like Greta Van Fleet a lot too, but I do think a lot of their mainstream appeal comes from their flair rather than their music. I know it’s just my opinion, but I found a lot of their newer songs to be a bit bland and drag on for longer than they should, whereas Rival Sons made the most of their time on the stage.

Rival Sons is produced by Dave Cobb (Stapleton, Isbell, Sturgill). If I remember the story correctly the lead singer told Dave that Chris Stapleton was the best vocalist he ever heard and Dave had to work with him since he thought Rival Sons’ lead singer was the best vocalist he had ever heard. Chris knew of Dave from Sturgill’s Metamodern album.

This great American bluesy rock and roll group is popular around the world, to the point of headlining their own sell-out shows in large venues in many countries, and their albums sell well in many countries, but sadly, they are still a "cult-level-selling" act in the U.S. As an American, and a lover of rock and blues, I have to say it-- this band rocks, and they should be *huge* in their own home country! They definitely deserve it!

@@kimoxholmnilsson I would love to visit Norway someday! It seems that Norwegians appreciate great rock and roll better than many of my fellow Americans these days. It's so strange to be an American lover of rock and roll, who is actually still excited about finding good newer bands, in 2023. When I was younger and growing up, from the 1970s through the '90s, I *never dreamed* that the U.S. would see a lengthy period in which rock and roll, in all of its forms, is so very marginalized, in terms of public support and sales in this country. Honestly I'm not sure what to think about it all, and I don't know what the answer is-- but I plan to keep on rocking until I die!

@@treff9226 It's very sad, and like you said, shameful, that Rival Sons are not more popular, or even just widely-known, in the U.S. They have top ten albums and huge sell-out shows in other countries, while in the U.S., it seems, even most rock fans haven't even heard of them. I truly don't understand it. This band has been making great albums, and releasing videos, and touring in the U.S. and around the world for many years, and it has paid off well for them in other countries, but not nearly as much in the U.S. Do Americans, in general, just not care about new rock music anymore? I know that I care, and I'm pushing 50! I still know how to rock out, and I love finding good, newer (and not-so-newer) rock bands!

I’m so glad Rival Sons is on your radar now. We fell hard for them about 8 years ago and could not stop listening to them - and then to see them live in Concord in a sweaty music venue was true American rock and roll! I’d say do Pressure and Time next, then the rest is gravy!

This band is about albums, not singles you can take deep dive in their catalog and not be disappointed. Live they expand the experience... I saw them at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, and the next nite I saw them at the Grammy Museum for a Q&A with an acoustic set. They played this song unplugged, there's a video of the performance.

My favorite album by them The Great Western Valkyrie. It is good from start to finish, and many sound like this song. I would go with Open My Eyes or Electric Man. Though I bet you could throw a dart at a track and like most any off the album. Good Luck has a pop sound, but in a good way. Where I’ve Been is more of a ballad, but shows off Jay’s range and the lyrics are deep.

I have followed these guys for over a decade and finally saw them last year. Hands down my favorite band of today. I truly hope you guys looked into some of their other music as they have so many songs with this vibe as well as some other vibes. So versatile. I appreciate when others appreciate good music and now I'll follow you guys. Seeing you get excited about the high hat drop in beat is exactly the stuff hear and get excited about too. They have been putting out great music since 2009! My favorite recent band without a doubt. They recently put out another album called Darkfighter. I am really liking what I have heard from that so far. And yes as good as their recorded music is they are even better live. If you really want to hear how bluesy they can be check out the song "Soul". It is one of their very early songs. Some other songs you may like are "Open My Eyes", "Secret" or "Pressure and Time".
