Most professional and collge teams sell only season tickets or packages before the season starts to maximize ticket sell. That's how teams like Michigan can sell over 100,000 tickets to Acorn State. If not for season ticket sells, they would only have 50,000 in the stands for Acorn State nstead of 100,000 like they are guaranteed to sell for an Ohio State game. Another thing is Fever games are often times moved to larger venues, so those extra seats won't be a part of any package. You are complaining about something, which is a common practice in big time sports. The only difference is there will be plenty of single game tickets available for Fever games for most teams. Unlike Michigan versus Ohio State, which are nearly impossible to get, unless you are willing to pay $1000 + for nosebleed seats.

Really, what they are doing is screwing Lynx fans. The goal is to make it nearly impossible for Lynx fans to attend the Fever games. This will ensure that lots of Fever game tickets are available to the general public to purchase on a per ticket basis. This way the Lynx can get maximum value for those fever tickets. The result is far fewer Lynx fans will be in seats at the Fever games. Who will likely be in those seats are Fever fans who will gladly pay $800+ a ticket, plus plane flights, plus hotels, plus restaurants, etc. It's a huge dollar grab at the expense of Lynx fans.

By separating out the Fever games from season pass holders, by making those games an additional cost, most Lynx fans will pass on the Fever games opting for the season pass (or half pass) because they live there and want the most games for their buck. Remember the fine print says no more than 10X the price. Very few Lynx fans will buy a season pass and then fork out another $800 for one ticket to one game. This tactic is designed to make sure the most seats at the Fever games are left for those willing to pay $800 a ticket (or more). All those seats that would have been occupied by Lynx season pass holders will now be purchased by non-Lynx fans. Most likely this will be people who do not mind spending a bunch of money just to see Caitlin Clark play a game. So this will favor CC fans not block them.

This was done to avoid all the Fever fans who would buy up all the Fever/Lynx tickets and have this appear to be a home game for the Fever. There is a small advantage to this. (I insert my fat tongue into my fleshy cheek here.) Last year Minnesota averaged 9000 in attendance. That means for the home crowd at most they will sell 9000 season tickets. That means that when the Fever come to town they will have to hope all those fans will pay the extra money for the game, rather than stay at home to watch the game. Now here's the advantage. They won't have to move to a larger venue to seat a larger audience which is a huge benefit to the Lynx players. They won't have to suffer listening to the echos from a large empty stadium. The Fever on the other hand, knowing what the Lynx had done can laugh at team who can't fill a stadium. Honestly though. I think there will be a big backlash on this and Lynx management will have to change their plans. Here is what I want the Fever fans to do. If ticket sales open up to a reasonable price with no strings attached any Fever fans who can should buy up those tickets. Then all of you with red 22 jerseys should show up to the game. I would laugh my ass off.

I would say the cost is not even the real issue. If they want to charge $800 (or, really, $1600, because you have to buy the other 10 tickets as well) for a Fever ticket, that's their business. People will buy them, and they'll sell out. No big deal. (Edit: Fixed price since Mick got to the actual pricing in the video.) No, the real issue is that if we assume that they will sell out on their Fever ticket sales, that means that they can claim to have sold out against every single other team as well. If 10k people would have bought normal tickets, and 20k people will buy Fever tickets (even at the higher price), that means they can claim to have sold 20k tickets against every single team because they _had_ to have sold 20k tickets for all teams in order to sell 20k tickets against the Fever. It's a way to bury the fact that the Fever were the drivers for the ticket sales, because they sure won't mention that little tidbit when they market this in their propaganda. EG: A'ja Wilson really is the face of the WNBA; after all, she sold out 20k tickets when the Aces came to town, right? Exactly. This is NOT a case of “you need to buy season tickets in order to get a ticket to the Lynx/Fever game.” They NEVER said that. Anywhere. It’s just giving season ticket holders the OPTION of either spending the extra money for the Fever game, or not spending it. If they forced everyone to pay the higher price for the Fever game, they would sell fewer season ticket packages due to them being too expensive for some fans. This way, fans can choose the cheaper option, or the more expensive option, depending on their budget. That is all this is. They are not forcing anyone to buy season tickets in order to attend the Fever/Lynx game. Read that 10 times if you have to. Yes, it’s a way of charging more for the Fever game tickets than the other games. That’s smart business, when they know it will sell out. The entire arena is not going to be season ticket holders. They are probably actually charging closer to 40 times the price of a ticket to see the worst team in the league 2 years ago. If the Stadium was only half full. But what they’ve done is front loaded the cost of a ticket to see that game if you assume ticket prices to all games have doubled. And the arena was half full then. Now every game is a sell out whether anyone shows up or not. Their total revenue went up by about 390%. And with VIP tickets, not even half of the half season pass ticket holders will get a ticket. Maybe 40%?

Personally I remember this was a common practice in the 90s and especially early 2000s to get tickets for a game Jordan was playing. 11 game packages were common requirements. I remember having to buy an 11 game package to get a ticket for the Wizards playing the Bulls when Jordan made his second comeback in ‘01. Actually, thinking about it. This is super common in college football. Particularly a lower tier team scheduled against a Top 25 team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see if a good group of the ticket buyers are ticket sellers that will take the hit for the non Fever games in order to make a big profit on the Indiana Fever game.

WNBA needs to rise there tocket prices. Women college tickets cost $500.00 dollars and up. Depending on the teams. ISC vs UCONN were extremely high costs ticket. The WNBA had some high price ticket sells last year. Prices were determined by team match up

They are trying to keep the Iowa/Caitlin Clark fans for taking over the arena. It was embarrassing to the Lynx to feel like they were the away team when Caitlin came to play in Minnesota. Iowa Fans will travel to watch Caitlin play but if they have to buy season tickets for the Lynx just to get the opportunity then that may be prohibited.

Lynx have no other way to make money - games held in tiny gyms, no players that are known well enough to shell out money to see attempting to play bball, nothing EXCEPT for exciting players ... from other teams - even the locals will not go to their games. This seems to be the only way to get more than $15 a seat - using the talent of others. Embarrassing to say the least.
