Come on, he got all trophies he could have dreamed of and he is still well known worldwide. He is top tier No.10. He couldn't transcend to GOAT status because 1. He is somewhat out shined by Ronaldo, and 2. He couldn't single handedly lead the Brazilian squad to lift the WC 1998 after Ronaldo's infamous fit before the game.

Its unfair to say he could single handedly defeat although he was the best performer of the tournament along with r9,djorrkoeff and petit.He was not playing at attacking midfielder or as any forward he was playing lft midfielder in the match and the brasilian defense is to be the one to be blamed for the loss.

Exactly. Neymar scored much more goals... but irrelevant for Brazil NT as he never even made to final. Rivaldo was one of main reasons that Brazil played 3 WC Finals in a row. And won 2 of them.
