Kung-Fu Panda 1 is about self acceptance, 2 is about processing trauma and self improvement :) Tai Lung couldn't process the fact that there is no secret technique in the scroll, he couldn't accept himself as complete, while Po could because his DAD made him realize there is no secret ingredient, everything special is within yourself. Shen couldn't deal with the trauma of his parent's resentment and even the possibility of being defeated, in his constant fight in trying to control his destiny, he only achieves everything he wanted to avoid, while Po faces his trauma and achieves inner peace.

Angelina Jolie actually admitted that her favorite line was when Tigress hears Po was adopted. 🤣🤣🤣 "Your dad... the goose?? That... must have been quite a shock." Oh she nailed the delivery of that line. But it was so serious and funny that after they stopped recording, she was laughing for a good 15 minutes before she could get back into character and keep recording. 🤣🤣🤣

I believe that they are also based on certain figures in Chinese mythology. For example, Viper is based on the sister of baizuchen (sorry if I misspelled that) From the Legend of the White Snake and Monkey is based on Sun Wokong. And very briefly in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness Mantis mentions that Tigress dresses like a dude. Get the hint? And I don’t know who Crane and Mantis are based on.

I like how it addresses real life issues. Adoption, honestly, compassion, and companionship. Also letting go of the past because it can ruin your life if you just hang on to the past. I like how tigress is pretty much po confidant in this film. It's good to have friends in you can talk to. But you really have to be honest if you want them to understand what is going on with you. But if you thinking this is amazing wait until the 3rd. Everything is just amazing. Especially Po's relationship with his dads.

Can we all talk about how amazing of a villain Shen is and how well he is written! Take for example the moment when he gets into the throne room and sees his fathers throne, a throne he spent his entire life dreaming of sitting in. And he talks about how his father treated him poorly and how much he resents him and instead of choosing to sit on the throne (which represents his fathers/parents legacy) he just has it thrown out of the window. Such a great moment!

There's one thing I love about this film that no one ever seems to put together. The central image of this film is the yin yang, a circle divided into two swirls of black and white with a spot of the other color within them. Two forces pushing against one other yet containing a piece of each other within them. Yet when the "warrior of black and white" is introduced, everyone looks to Po and forgets that Shen shares much the same coloring.It's why I find it so interesting that while Po defeated Shen's plan, Shen ultimately defeated himself, both by causing the events that made Po a warrior and by directly causing his own destruction while continuing to attack Po after Shen had already lost. Po got the win, but there were two warriors of black and white fulfilling that prophecy. The yin yang was completed

But with how this story is written is really good that it can be interpreted in many ways, I just read how Shen just followed his destiny and accepted his death and or how he saw at the end that he has nothing anymore with all his ships/weapons destroyed he would just die on his own way hence why he let the mass fell on him when he could've avoided it. TBH second movie is my fave- So deep...and the visuals! I loved they showed more of Tigress depth and her friendship with Po, I really loved this villain too, he has a lot of flaws, his bigger drive was fear, power and pride whilst Tai Long's drive was anger, resentment and power. Besides that, Shen is really charismatic (imo), he's so clever, his overall look/design is visually aesthetic and his Kung Fu is so graceful-looking- Ah, I love this movie so much!
