Must have been nice to get a 4 million dollar contract at 17 years old to play in the middle of nowhere in front of the retirement home. Let’s say he never made it to the big leagues. If he was smart with that money, start a business, smart investments. Set for life.

It's a problem in the minor leagues apparently. The latin players only hang with other latin players, and they are given translators.....why learn? As a baseball fan, and also a hockey fan, I saw a player that my team had drafted at 18, and by 20 he was in the NHL with NO English, and within a year he could take interviews. Hate that baseball gives these players a chance to just....stay in their shell.
@chrispikoulas12916 жыл бұрын
His father doesnt speak English

And??? My friend is from Mexico and didn't speak English when he arrived here when he was 11. He's fluent now. His parents still can't say more than a few conversational words in English to me (after 20 years here) and use him to interpret at stores and whatnot. So "my parents don't speak the language" is not an excuse. He immersed himself into school, and hung out with kids like me, instead of only the other 3-4 hispanic kids at our school.

Yeah he kept making it seem like he was going to make some "poetic" connection between the dying town and the start of the kids' baseball careers, but he just couldn't be asked to. So instead we got random fucking b-roll and clips while he blabbered for 10 minutes about how the coal industry is dying, so that he could hit the 10 minute mark. So worthless. edit: i just looked back and the mascot alone takes up 2 minutes of the video. who fucking cares about the mascot? Vlad wasn't even on screen for 2 minutes total. probably not even a full minute lmfao.

Dude mak8ng it to the Major Leagues isnt that hard....all u javr to do is be obe of the best players on the world and be dortunste enough tokbe spitred at the rifht time on thw right team and be ox sistenr for about 5 years through each level of the minors...and then when u get called up the majors where the level of play is night and outer space you just have to be good roght off the bat or you'll be dropped right back down to the minors.....ane its not a mentslly rough fame. All u have to do is fault 7 out of 1p timws at the plate so you 3 entire at bats to make u feel good our of 10.....shiiiit only reason i dosnt make the majors was because I cohldnt even get scouted by a division 1 college.....and I didnt get cloae to beibg drafted. That's the only reason im not Willy Mays

That's best case scenario. Most prospects flame out due to injuries or better players coming up who works just as hard. Sometimes working hard alone isn't enough. There will be things beyond your control, because that's how life works.
