Rock music, metal music and country music in the 2010s decade has gotten way too much away from being based off of the blues. I like what this country music special said about country music in that the genre needs to come up with new and fresh ideas but at the same time it needs to stay in its boundaries from its original sound or else it isn't country music. For rock and metal music I feel the same way. In this recent decade rock, metal, and country music has gotten so pop sounding with much of this music using computer programmed techno dance mixes and autotune singing making these genres getting too far away from its roots and therefore way too far away from its blues based structure. For older people like myself and the younger generation that favors the music of my generation and generations before my generation, we are looking for music and musicians that keep it real and raw and stay within the boundaries of what made rock music, rock music, and metal music metal music, and country music, country music. For rock music, this band, Rival Sons, is a perfect example of keeping rock music within its boundaries and probably why they are gaining rapidly with a fan base because so many people are turned off by these pop sounding rock bands on the mainstream radio with these EDM mix sound effects and heavy use of autotune in their vocals. With country music we are getting a revival of old school country music because musicians like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers are rapidly growing with their fan base because so many people are sick of this way too poppy sounding country music that is being played on the mainstream country stations. Florida Georgia Line? Really? Plus autotune is overly used with these pop country artists as well. People that hate what has happened to country, rock and metal music or just pop music in general, especially in this last decade are looking for bands and musicians that are raw and real. The genre that is gaining a rapid fan base even though the mainstream radio stations will not play this stuff is traditional old school blues, both electric and acoustic blues. These blues festivals and blues concerts are rapidly growing with more and more people flocking to this old school genre with many of these festivals having thousands of people and the blues musicians often selling out venues. Musicians like Gary Clark Jr., Samantha Fish, Brandon "Taz" Niederauer" and many others are rapidly gaining a fan base and what is cool about this is that I often see people at these shows, especially people my age and older, wearing rock, metal, and country Tshirts from the great musicians from the past at these blues shows.

"Though your body may grow old, in you mind you must remain a kid." Such a simple quote yet perhaps the wisest approach towards happiness. World does not appreciate joy and happiness Childish joy, the moment it is shown, is assumed weakness. One should have the guts to carry his child-like joy and stand tall against anything that may try and crush his head, force him to bow. Life is not worth living without the silliness and cheerfull goofiness.

How was the concert? Did it live up to expectations?
@jackieec405 жыл бұрын
Better than i expected! Just blew me away! There was no fancy stage and gimmicks just raw, sincere energy and talent! I'll see them again in the future. And i loved their choice of venue and warm up band the Sheepdogs!

@@jackieec40 That sounds awesome and I'm excited to hear it because I'm hoping to see them when they come back to Los Angeles. The crazy thing is they're still pretty unknown here and I still haven't had a chance to see them yet.
I think of the things that seem to matter most to my soul. I consider the list regularly as I see it as a responsibility of manhood. The list, my list would fall short and stager incompletely without the engagement of spirituality. I will forever be in debt to the Rival Sons as they help my soul recognize my heart and my heart recognize my mind and my mind recognize all of me with eyes closed. Love ya Jay, you help me feel safe as I dare to examine who I really am, all the good and what needs changed. Be blessed my friends... See you soon Pat

Vocals on this one really remind me of Paul Rodgers. Good song.

I hear that more than any other reference that gets kicked around. Agreed, only Jay is sweeter, more expressive in that sense, more seductive, he can evoke other spirits too, but it's always his own, like a perfume blend, that you can't stop breathing in. This band has held me captive since "Keep on Swinging".

Rival son rocks, but there are many great bands out there. Unfortunately none of them get much exposure.

TheRiverRiseII I wouldn’t go that far. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good as hell, but there are MANY bands that mount them and I’m sure they’d admit that. Tool, AIC, Pearl Jam, BLS, Sabbath, RATM. The list goes on of rock icons still around. But as I said, Rival Sons are still awesome and shouldn’t be ignored.
