Looking good! Reminds me of the B&O run along the Cherry near Richwood!

It kind of is, at least in spirit. B&O, WV, C&O in WV.

Beautiful bridge work, Joey. Those resin 3D shoes will look great! And your foam cutter sure makes quick work of carving a valley, and that backdrop behind it is perfect.

The beauty of this layout is its simplicity. I understand the desire to add more in but I like the "negative spaces" you have built in where later on you'll work your magic to highlight the spaces. I wouldn't be concerned if you're only running 2 or 3 cars in and out of thr mine. One of the neatest operations i ever saw was at a place called K & M Gauley Bridge where The NYC (which bought the line from the Kanawha & Michigan) came down one side of the river on its way to Deepwater , the C & O was on the other and further east the branch crossed the New River to join the main. Long story short the C & O/Chessie/CSX interchanged with NYC/PC/CR/NS in Gauley Bridge with a short train dubbed the Gauley Trolley. It was never more than 4 cars but always interesting to watch them swap cars around. The right end is a blank canvas right now. Another bump-out to provide the space to use those beautiful structures you have and give some foreground for photography is an excellent idea. This is going to be a great model railroad when you're done and kicking a few cars around during your operating time will have the same effect as blowing down steam on a locomotive.

I know the area well. We are from WV and Iove that area. I have no problem with the short trains as it is supposed to be a small branch. Just want to make sure it has some switching in addition to the scenery.

You did a really nice job on the bridge and stream area. The amount ain’t area has a nice feel to it as it is, I don’t know if you want to take that away just to get 1 turnout and 1 more track there.

Joey. I think you will be unhappy with the length of train you can work on the left side of the mountain. Would you consider cutting the mountain width down and instead of going around it, tunnel through? It will make an effective scene divider. Plus you could expand the switching capabilities on the left side more like the old SC&T layout. And you could even put a switch back in going toward the front edge and put some saw mill stuff in. Just my thoughts.

It's supposed to be a branch line and I don't mind the short trains, but I just want some more switching interest on the left. The hill will stay, but I worked on an all new extension today.

i don't think I would add a switch to the front area, like they say less is more,

I agree Sparky. The single track winding around the mountain gives a nice sense of remote and lonely distance. Adding a turnout would detract from that feeling and make it seem too populated and busy.
