A fairly easy way to form a micro loop in the end of a coloured indicator section . Not suitable for higher breaking strain tippets .

Pro Tip : when tying tippet to the micro-loop, use an 8 turn clinch to ensure you can easily cut the tippet without damaging the loop. Use your fingers to remove scrap, not a tool, for the same reason. Peachy Fly Fishing has an alternate version of the micro-loop that is a little better for on-stream application / rigging. Thanks for the content. BTW, got my Hardy 10'2'' 2wt on order. This will be my first Hardy rod. It should arrive just in time for a trip to the Smokey Mountains here in NC, USA.

Interesting vid and thanks for your time in doing.Do you double the tippet in some way when connecting to it to stop it cutting the loop? FYI what brand was the hot pink /fuschia poly yarn sighter on the spinner fly vid?

Hi Howard, thanks for the video. Have learnt a new skill here. Could you do a video on how you tie on tippet with droppers attached? Would be good to know what knot you like to Use for the droppers. Kind Regards Mike Robinson.

Great video. I'll start using them. One question: Have you ever had trouble with a tippet cutting through a micro-loop since it is nylon to nylon. Thanks much!

Yes - you need to replace them , frequency depending on diameter . I’ve started to use the newer xxs micro rings that are available, much better size and weight wise than the original “1mm” rings that where often really 2mm .

I measure all my new rings when I buy them (many brands, stated sizes from 1.0 to 1.5 to 2.0mm) with calipers. Without exception, they have all been 2.0mm. The xxs ones don't seem to have hit the US market yet.

Great video, thank you - 3 questions if I may 1. Is this fipsm legal 2. do you cut the tag flush and 3. Is it any different to an improved clinch knot?
@howardcrostonflyfisher92274 жыл бұрын
Hi - I’m my opinion the rules are quite clear for FIPS and any kind of loop is Not legal . That said the interpretation can be quite “grey” at times and I know some anglers in FIPS events have used loops ( I don’t) . , I leave the tag slightly long , Yes it’s basically an improved clinch .

Now is that competition legal ?
@howardcrostonflyfisher92273 жыл бұрын
Depends who you ask, and how you view it - when it’s got tippet tied to it it’s basically just a knot . It’s been raised in captains meetings and been approved, in others it’s been disallowed...
