I'm really familiar with dark nights. Dont give up & don't give in, stay the course, believe in you, believe in Life, is more Profoundly Intimate with us than we may know when we are in the dark. Sun still shines above clouds, it will pass. Is easier if you are not at odds with Presence of Within. Ask in your Innermost Depths for help, in the Stillness of Silence is Presence. You are not alone. It may seem so, but is not True. Believe.💗💗

Sophie... It's hard... but there is a way out of it... Therapy and medication help in crisis moments, but re-significate life is the best way... Meditation helped me to find peace with my anxious thoughts instead of keeping the battle to get rid of them. If you want to try, start it slow, with short exercises on focus on your breath, let the thoughts come and go, but use the breath as an anchor to reality. Breathing is a way to get out of the anxiety attack as well - by closing your eyes and isolating yourself from the rush of feelings, just breathing in through the nose, and out through the mouth, slowly and trying to feel all the movement of the air get in and slowly getting out. I hope you can be ok soon.

While I can't disagree with your comment (Sierra did a stunning cover), I'd like to point out a few things. One, Joni was in her 20's when she wrote and released this song. Two, even Joni interprets her own songs differently than when she was young. It seems to me that she penned and performed many songs that she would grow into, make more space for. A great example is the difference in how "Both Sides Now" was performed in her young years and how she performed it decades later: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qny0hJ9-YrF_irM. The living of life deepens everything for each of us. Joni has been my favorite artist, bar none, for 50 years now. While I have always loved her music, her art, I have a much deeper understanding of it all now that I've lived more life.
@belascialoja48123 жыл бұрын
@@eyesofbeholder I'm not sure of your meaning. Is it that, if Sierra infuses the song with more emotion than did Joni, it's maybe because Joni was still young and lacked maturity? I think this is what you're saying, but I'm not sure.

AI always helps to explain the lyrics to me so eloquently. “River” by Joni Mitchell is a melancholic and introspective song that reflects on themes of regret, longing, and personal loss. Set against the backdrop of Christmas, the song expresses a desire to escape emotional pain and sorrow. The lyrics reference a failed relationship, with the narrator lamenting her role in its downfall and wishing for a way to metaphorically “fly away.” The imagery of the river serves as a symbol of escape and cleansing. It represents the narrator’s yearning to be freed from her burdens, allowing her to leave her troubles behind. This contrast between the festive season and the narrator’s internal sadness makes “River” a poignant and relatable song for many who experience loneliness or reflection during the holidays. When Joni Mitchell sings, “I wish I had a river I could skate away on,” she’s expressing a desire to escape from her emotional turmoil and difficult circumstances. The river symbolizes a path away from the pain she’s feeling, offering a way to leave her regrets and sadness behind. The mention of skating away implies a sense of effortless movement-gliding away smoothly, almost as if she could erase everything in her past as she moves forward. This line captures the longing to distance herself from a place and time that no longer feels joyful, making it a powerful metaphor for wanting to flee from heartache.

Oh my. I am not sure what to say. That was spectacular. You sing like an angel. You remind me of all the times I ever fell in love, and one of those times was many years ago when the album Blue came out and it had this song on it. God Bless you for your beautiful voice. You brought tears to my eyes.

Wow, Joni Mitchell is so difficult to emulate but you did a fantastic job. So much soul. You really made this beautiful song your own. Cheers

Memories of needing daily doses of Joni Mitchell’s album „Blue“. It is one of the joys of music, whether through the medium of the singer-songwriter or a cover singer that a song takes on a new colour and creates other sensations as it emerges. Thank you for the beauty of what you have brought here.

I am truly appreciative that she didn’t copy any “Joni..isms” on this piece. She took a beautiful song and did it with her own authentic style.

Okay, I have to confess, this kept coming up in my recommendations and I kept passing it by. I absolutely love this song....have for many many years and I thought no one can beat Joni so no need to listen. I guess it was meant for me to hear because I finally clicked on it and MAN! I'm so very very glad I did. Thank you for this beautiful version of an amazing song! Your voice is absolutely beautiful!!
