I feel almost pathetic saying that I miss River dearly. I never met him. But I really don't know, it's just how I feel. I wasn't around or alive when he died but it pains me every time I see him or hear about his death. His work was beautiful and so was he. I have a connection with him every time he's on screen and I just wish he lasted longer in this world. I wanted to see more of him and what his talent can further bring to his audience. Hearing Joaquin in the moments of his panic and terror, broke my heart completely. When I think about how different things would be if someone would have called 911 sooner, it brings me to this weird state of regret. Like I should have been there or something BUT HELL I WASNT even alive!! His death is fucking tragic, a pain filled story, something I hate hearing about because all my heart wants and wishes is for him to have made it that night. But he went down the wrong path & I feel like if he didn't die on October 31 then it would have happened sooner or later. & God, it makes me so sad.
@JohnJohn-qv4mg9 жыл бұрын
+Zaria Ramirez That´s normal for young teenage girls to feel this way about actors or musicians, so it´s not pathetic. Not knowing a famous person allows young girls to fantasize the perfect image they want to see in that said actor/musician. That´s easy to do because you do not know him personally, only from movies, interviews etc when th actors are on their best behavior and appar to be the perfect people. Sadly, when you get older ie in your mid-20´s+ you won´t feel this way about people you do not know anymore. If you do, than it becomes pathetic and kind of sad. ;) but for now, you´re all good.

You are the only one who feels the exact same as I do and all of my friends make fun of me for feeling this way about river and they claim that I have a crush on a dead guy which pisses me off. I just feel like he didn't deserve to die because he was such a pure heart and personality. I wish I could go back and be that person who called the cops right away. I don't think it was his time to go at all, and if he was still alive, I would tell him how great of a person he is. I pray for him sometimes too, and I know that he is in heaven watching over all of us.
@lookatmepleasesir8 жыл бұрын
River was well attested to as an exception person by everyone who knew him . He wasn't perfect of course, but he was seen by the public as special and exceptional compared to other celebrities, both during his life and after his death. He wasn't justin beiber or harry styles. I don't think its pathetic to feel that way about some people you don't know when you get older, as long as there are good reasons and its not simply because they are famous. We must live in a very cynical world if its considered pathetic to admire an inspiring person.

Hes not the only one either. This happens daily. Not always a famous actor, but someone somebody loves. Someone that's as important to someone as any actor is to anyone else. If you're smart, you'll stay away from heroin. I done it about 4 times, but didnt like it. The first time, I thought I was gonna die. I couldnt hardly stay awake and I kept nodding out even if I was standing up. Not sure why I did it 3 more times after, but I did. Luckily each time I hated it. Weird because I used to love all other opiates. I overdosed twice.. was on life support both times. The first time I was 19.. I fell asleep sitting up in a recliner and they said that's what prevented me from dying by aspiration.

Some people say that Joaquin didn't call 911 straight away because it wasn't something so different, like they must've known he was taking drugs before so when he saw him convulsing he probably thought it would stop but he realised it wasn't the same so he called 911 later. Personally, whether my brother was previously taking drugs or not, I would be rushing to the nearest phone booth and dialling for an ambulance because he wasn't himself that whole night, and to be honest fits are a serious thing, even if it isn't fatal or to do with drugs.

manuelkong10 His gf Samantha Mathis witnessed what had happened. They hadnt been at John F’s hotel doing drugs- River hadn’t done drugs for a couple of months prior. I suppose you’re referring to the same ‘witnesses’ that swore River & John F were on a drugs binge days leading up to his death?? Bullshit!! River had been filming in the Utah desert 9 hours away, had only filmed the last scenes that day, Oct 30 before heading back to LA for a few days off. River was so tired he wasn’t even going to go out that night, Samantha offered to drop his siblings off as they were underage-Joaquin really wanted to go see a band at VR, River chased after them as they got into the elevator saying he changed his mind. If he was doing all these drugs....how did they get into his system? You clearly haven’t read the autopsy, because you would know it states ‘NO NEEDLE TRACK MARKS ON HIS BODY, NO DRUGS IN HIS NASAL PASSAGES, NO DRUGS RESIDUE IN HIS RESPIRATORY SYSTEM.. Demon Wolf Yeah, possibly, but that clearly didn’t work because by Joaquin & the family keeping quiet over what actually happened that night, most people assume River was a junkie who did too many drugs that night and died. Even if they didn’t want to name Frusciante, they could at least tell the public that River died from taking a drink he unknowingly knew was laced with a lethal amount of drugs- River is the victim here , yet he’s been given a label, by many, that’s not correct & not fair. Not saying he never dabbled in drugs-but he was clean for at least 7 weeks before his death & autopsy shows that- despite Bob Forrest’s absurd claims- River didn’t do any drugs, the only needle marks on his body were from the IV from paramedic, no drugs in his nasal passages nor his respiratory system. I thank you for your kind comment. I just believe River deserves justice🙏.

@pyt77784 жыл бұрын
Demon Wolf He was a wonderful person, so humble. I’m not one of these fans that proclaim he was this perfect human that never set a foot wrong. From what I gather, River did dabble in drugs occasionally, on days off or vacation. The autopsy proves he was by no means, a drug addict- as does his actions. If a drug addict dies, it would show postmortem, drugs would be present in the tissue, organs, sometimes teeth, hair follicles, River’s autopsy says he was a healthy young man (I’ll attach a link to a very credible article which is backed up by documents, including the autopsy.) The only needle marks on River was from the paramedic, & as I stated, no drugs in his nasal passages. Some ridiculous books by so called friends, such as Last Night at the Viper Room, are full of lies. It claims that River & John Frusciante were on a drugs bender-days prior to his death, in LA, & during this time, River stayed with Frusciante -it’s rubbish! River was filming Dark Blood for 7 weeks prior to that night, in the Utah desert, 12 hours away- he had filmed the last scene the same day, Oct 30, then traveled to LA. On set he not only knew his lines but those of his costars, he took his roles seriously. I seriously doubt someone going through withdrawal (because that’s what they’re saying, he was an addict but was drug free for 7 weeks at least), that would bring on withdrawals, yet he was sharp as a razor in reality. Don’t get me wrong, if River has gone too far and ODd that night, I would still be a huge fan, but he didn’t, that’s what pisses me off, the misconception that he took drugs & died. John Frusciante from Chilli Peppers, handed River a cup, told him to drink it, it’dmake him feel fabulous. Have you heard of William Richert? He starred in Idaho with River, directed Jimmy Reardon, & was in talks with River & Samantha Mathis (River’s GF) to both star in Man in the Iron Mask. Anyway, 3 days after he died, Samantha reached out to William, said she wanted to tell him what happened, as he & River were very close. She told him about the drink given to River, how she helped River outside before collapsing. River wasn’t supposed to be there, he only went to drop his siblings off as they were underage. A week later Samantha changed her story, saying River was already high that night & he went into the bathroom & injected something. Again, we know this is false as per autopsy, & it’s very different to what she told William Richert days earlier. He’s hoping to make a documentary about what actually happened. In doing so William has interviewed people, including the paramedic, Roy Reiber, who stated what Joaquin had told him about a diabetic seizure. I also attach a 15 minute FB video of William taking about what Sam told him, & a link to Barry Lawrence, an author who spoke to people that witnessed what happened, inc the paramedic. I believe those 3 links will tell you exactly what happened. Sorry for the essay btw, this isn’t something that can be told in a few lines. Thanks again, I know for sure River didn’t know what he drank, because a few witnesses saw him grab Frusciante after he became unwell & yelled ‘what the fuck did you give me?” If he knew it was a speedball for example, those are sipped, usually passed around, River knocked it back, as if he presumed it was a shot or something. John Frusciante gave an interview saying it’s was no big deal that River died, he said ‘everybody dies, it’s no big deal, in River’s case I think it's more a shame that he was born” that pisses me off- it’s like he’s trying to justify his actions, he should have been held accountable, end of the day he gave River a drink with 8 x the lethal amount of drugs in. River had so much to give, all those wonderful things he did for animals, the planet , environment etc.... imagine what he would have gone onto do? Please let me know what you think? Always great to meet another fan. Take care 🙏💕 This link has autopsy plus other relevant links. medium.com/@jocwriters/the-curious-death-of-river-phoenix-88e47a0fa24b Willi Richert discussing what Samantha Mathis told him facebook.com/JimmyReardon/videos/2924314524513/?vh=e This final link is an author that actually has done his research, talks about the paramedic, the so called diabetic seizure etc kzbin.info/www/bejne/l36upYlpm6Z7f6s

PYT 777 what parts of the book do you feel are untrue?? Please elaborate...
@pyt77784 жыл бұрын
Damon You can’t believe a word from Forrest- a supposed friend of River?? Im wondering which parts ARE true?? See, according to Forrest, River spent days before his death on a drugs bender with John Frusciante (RHCP) in LA ,where River was staying with Frusciante! 2 issues, 1st is, River was actually filming Dark Blood in the Utah desert 12 hours away, for the previous 7 weeks-since September 6 actually.. River had only filmed the last desert scene that very day, was chauffeured back to LA on Oct 30 to record some indoor scenes after a few days off- this is verified by the Director & Samantha Mathis & River’s close friend /director William Richert. 2nd, I have read River’s autopsy in detail, it states ‘NO DRUG RESIDUE WAS FOUND IN RIVER’S NASAL PASSAGES, NO NEEDLE DRUG TRACK MARKS ON HIS BODY (just 3 puncture wounds where the paramedic attempted to insert the IV) , NO TRACE OF DRUGS IN HIS RESPIRATORY SYSTEM.” If River even was in LA, which he 100% was not, how was he on a drugs bender?? He didn’t snort, inject or smoke anything- proven. If River was an addict, it would show up post mortem in the tissue, blood, organs, sometimes teeth, hair follicles-none of this was found, River was described as a healthy young man. As any other way of the drug getting into River’s body has been excluded , proven by the coroner, he was killed by ingesting the lethal drink that Frusciante gave him. Now, honestly, I don’t know what else is in the book as I have no interest in fabricated stories,....if he can tell such easily disproven untruths- how can anything he said be trusted? Seems simple fact-checking was not top of Bob’s to do list. I say all this with respect, I have nothing to gain, I just want the truth, about River’s death out there.I’d be happy to send you a link to the autopsy.

Here's the deal. The friend that handed him the drink, according to witnesses, was the same friend he was staying with and had been doing drugs with for at least a week prior to this incident. The friend handed him the drink and said, "here, drink this. It'll make you feel awesome." To think for a moment that River was not aware that there was at least the possibility of drugs in that drink, is naive. According to Samantha Mattis, his girlfriend at the time and an eyewitness, River was already high when he arrived at the club. There is a possibility that his friend, who was already there, was not aware of that fact. It was an accidental overdose. It was a combination of his friend's unawareness of his drugged state and is own miscalculation of the strength of the drugs in the drink. But then again, River didn't even ask what was in the drink. So, to absolve him of all responsibility is incorrect and unfair to those who were there, who were close to him, and who had to mourn the loss of a dear friend. It is particularly insulting to everyone involved, when they are accused, years after the fact, by people who were not even born yet. I remember when it happened and the aftermath because I am the exact age that he would be if he were alive today. He was only 27 days older than me.
@pyt77784 жыл бұрын
Nope, wrong, I really wish people would stop quoting a proven false book!! This bullshit story is from Bob Forrest from his book Last Night at the Viper Room., claiming he was a friend of River! If he was ANY kind of friend he would have known River was in the Utah desert for 7 weeks filming Dark Blood before this happened, he filmed the last scene that day, had arrived back in LA, that day, so how was River on a bender with Frusciante in LA days leading up to his death?? He was 12 hours away!! I presume you haven’t read the autopsy? It shows NO needle track marks, NO drugs in his nasal passages, NO drugs in his respiratory organs- he died from ingesting the drink that was 8 x the lethal amount! Samantha Mathis changed her story, she even said in an interview River injected something in the bathroom 😡😡 she’s a liar! Again the autopsy proves this! Joaquin lied to the paramedic which probably contributed to River’s death. Yes River accepted their drink but when he became unwell he yelled at Frusciante’what the fuck did you give me’ so I don’t believe River knew what was in the cup, he was clean at the time too. Yes, shock is crippling. My nephew ran into a plate glass door and ripped his arm open, blood squirting in an arc, onto the floor. My sister stuck her thumb inside his arm, on the artery to stop the bleeding, but all the other adults, including myself, could do nothing but stare in horror at the gruesome nightmare before us. My sister had to scream at us a few times "Call an ambulance!" before anyone moved. Everything was in slow motion for me. While someone else called the ambos, my mother called dad, who was nearby, and left a message that neglected to say where we were. There is not just fight or flight, as we're told. There's also FREEZE. It's an out-of-body feeling ... in slow-motion, and having gone through it, I will never judge how someone behaves in an emergency again. It's like, when you need your mind the most, it shuts down. My sister was told that her son had 4 minutes to live if she hadn't pinched the artery, and I don't know if one of us would have been as sane-minded to do it if she weren't there.

Clearing this up for everyone since some people are saying that he took the drugs. River has been on heroin that night, but it was fairly mild high. Nobody is denying that he had a drug problem, but his death, in my opinion, was not his fault. When he arrived at the Viper Room, a friend handed him a drink that River promptly chugged. Little did he know, but it was laced with a speedball. After complaining that he couldn’t breath, crying that he felt like he has dying, and passing out, another friend gave him Valium to “chill him out.” Upon waking up, Joaquin brought him outside to get some air where he started having violent seizures. After waiting 5 minutes, 911 was called. Even as River was convulsing on the pavement, the “friend” that had drugged him told Joaquin to “leave him alone” and that “he was ruining his high.” The drugs that River died from weren’t taken knowingly. He was drugged. Really tragic story. If 911 had been called just a bit earlier River might still be here with us today. Rest In Peace, River Phoenix❤️

When someone is having a seizure, there isn't anything you can do. Even when the ambulence is there, the paramedics will just stand there and watch until the person stops seizuring because they could pose a danger to them since they can't control their limbs. I've seen this happen. It's sad. Unfortunately, even if they had arrived early, they would have had to wait to deliver assistance. RIP, River.
@chocaren46025 жыл бұрын
The only thing you can do with a person having a seizure is turning them to their side and not touching them. Touching them triggers even more the nervous system. He needed an antidote to treat the huge amount of drugs in his system but of course, if the paramedics don't know what's going on, there's no way they can give proper care. He died because of irresponsibility from his part and the people around him that didn't care enough. Truly sad.

@@chrismccready3276 it is without a doubt true. As someone who suffers from seizure disorder I have seized quite a few times infront of people and the only thing they were able to do was bring me out to get oxygen and upon waking up force me to drink water. This happened to me in 2010, when I was raving in a club, I took a mixture of Ecstasy, and Dust Off, and while I was in the club, I remember feeling so dizzy to the point where I was about to faint. I am unsure what happened after for I collapsed and I'm assuming someone saw it and I was immediately brought outside for air, and my friend Edwin stayed by my side while everyone else was just in shock and watching, thankfully I awoke and I didn't know what was was going on, my friend was forcing me to drink water and I kept saying stop, stop, but he kept saying you need to drink the water, you just had a seizure. And I was in such shock, I called my friend immediately to come pick me up and I laid down and went to sleep for awhile. When someone is seizing unfortunately there's nothing you can do.tje only thing you could really do is lean them over to the side so they don't choke on their own vomit, and never put something inside of their mouth for their jaw is so cleansed up that they will bite down on it and can't let go because they don't realize what they're doing while they're seizing.

Angela Izzo I was replying to the person saying the paramedics will just stand there and watch. That is not true. A) they should attempt to secure the airway if possible with at least an NPA B) they should be ventilating the patient C) at an ALS level there are medications which can be administered and D) no healthcare provider should ever be waiting on scene for a seizure to end, they should be moving to the truck and the hospital. For lay folk, your correct there’s not much they can do other than lay them on there side and attempt to keep them from hurting themselves but that is not at all true for medical providers whether BLS or ALS

if only mobile phones had been as common back then as they are today then possibly River could have been saved in time :(

There was actually nothing arrogant about him at all. He was one of the least arrogant people I've ever met, and certainly the least arrogant celebrity. It was a terrible accident. Remember how young he was. Young people make mistakes. As for drugs being the tool of satan what does that even mean? "Judge not, lest ye be judged". "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." People make mistakes- unfortunately the tragic results of this still resound today. He will always be missed.

The guy injected a snowball (Heroine & Crack Mix) It's the most intense hit , But oh god you are playing with your life if you don't get the levels right for you! Having said that, Any level could fuck you over if your body is not used to it !! I've had a close friend pass from this shit. R.I.P fella

River never injected or snorted a thing, he was given a drink by a friend... he had no idea of it's intensity or anything other than his friend saying 'you'll feel wonderful' all these lies that he was in the bathroom snorted up are just that, lies.

Cause of death: "Acute multiple drug ingestion" Lethal high levels of cocaine and heroin, Valium, marijuana and crystal meth were found in his blood. I've heard a snowball injection was involved, But even if I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure you couldn't make a cocktail drink packing those chemicals!

Well, there were witnesses that said River was handed a cup. That's why he had no needle marks, nothing in his nasal passages or stomach lining. The paramedics couldn't tell exactly how he got the drug inside, but like I said, witnesses said it was a drink. But it was definitely given to him by someone he knew... and River was sober when he arrived at The Viper Room.
