At 71, I spent a lot of time on River Rd. I think every Sunday drive my family took started on River Rd. When we went to Coney Island, we started on River Rd (in a 49 or 52 Chev or a 56 Olds). I grew up in Price Hill and even as a teenager, seemed to end up on River Rd. I love these old films, keep up the good work.

Thanks Steve buddy you did an awesome job and it’s awesome seeing your memories an what you shared with us my condolences to your father he seems to be a great person an father to to you also… but I got a lot of watching this because I did the same thing with my father as well and he is gone to but we drove up an down us 50 for my childhood also and my father worked at salt company there on 50 for a long time an I’ve grown up in Cleves my whole life an still do and again thanks for sharing it was cool seeing everything for what it was back then an it was really cool thanks

Great video. I remember as a kid my dad was a pilot on the Anderson Ferry. After church i would go and spend Sunday afternoon's in the pilot house with him. He would send me up to Schultes for ice and some fish sandwiches. Best fish sandwiches ever. I miss Schultes and my dad. Thank you for making this. Brings back a lot of great memories.

Rather sad. I remember as a kid in the 70's and early 80's it was still easy to travel and all that. Sad to see so much boarded up or gone. I believe Anderson Ferry is still running. Cincy will always be home.

One thing sad about Cincy as a whole these days is there aren’t as many small manufacturing or mom & pop stores as I remember from the 60’s. I grew up in Covington. I was so thrilled to attend a red’s game in 1969 before they moved to Riverfront Stadium.

I stopped at that UDF several Times. I delivered autoparts. I had a part for Auto Auction on 128 in Ross. I took 50 out of Marimont to 128. That was a good drive. from Ross back to Fairfield to the Warehouse. made it in good time to go out for my 2nd route.I deliver parts to Places in Delhi. We called that God Country. I went down Anderson Ferry to River Road to 128. Tank along River Rd. grain and other stuff they loaded what ever they had would load Grain cars and barges.

My Name is Mike Larkin I grew up near Boldface park. I spent every waking moment at the pool or playing baseball. My story is identical to yours...we had a small plot of land in Aurora that we grew crops on. After a long day hoeing I would lay in the back of the car and count the street lights as they passed. So many memories as a kid I can remember riding the ferry all the time. My grandpa was in the paper for swimming across the Ohio river he was a grill cook on navy ships. And lake Edwards made the best fish sandwiches. Thanks for sharing this ❤️

I grew up in Sayler Park in the 50s. Traveled that river road route for years. To UC, then to work up in Price Hill. Course every trip to town covered this route. Nice to see the old pics, and places I remember.. like Trolley Tavern and Schulte’s...the vid starts with the West Side Best Side bit, ... which based on the “now” pics of empty lots, and overgrown neighborhoods, and boarded up buildings, shows that no longer to be true. Very sad. Compare that stretch of road to what used to be called Eastern Ave, and see what’s now there on that side of town.

Steve I was on River Road a couple of years ago I had some people with me. We went from Silverton through Reading on Galbraith Rd. To Vine St.Follow Vine from Hartwell to Downtown. Turned right on to Central Parkway made a left on to Cental ave made a right Eight throug Queen Gate left on state st to River Road. Went through Saylor Park can't remember the name of the street that go through Saylor Park. Went past the Indian Statue. Went down and made a left turn at the end of the street, left on River Road went into Fernbank Park. the inprovement they made to the park was nice.left there went into Northbend to President William Henry Harrison Tomb. Then back to River Road headed back east on 50.the River looks nice went to Vine back up Vine to Mc Million turn Right to North I 71 to Silverton played Softball at the Park on the corner of Delhi and River Road at Fernview park.
