I'm 81 and been involved in the countryside in this area for over 60 years. If you believe that global warming is the cause of these floods then you must believe in fairies at the bottom of your garden. I remember when in the 60-70s rivers were dredged and the rivers flowed, but since they stopped any maintenance on rivers ,the problem has got worse and worse. If you cut down the cc of flow by leaving the silt in then the only way the water can get away is by flooding. When will the environmental agencies learn that with water and rivers you cannot cut corners.

Climate change is blamed because it's the easy thing to do. I agree there's more out of the normal weather BUT as you say the infrastructure isn't updated or maintained, building on or near flood plains, the E.A who in some departments are clearly not fit for purpose....the list goes on. I remember when I was a kid, seeing the dredgers regularly on the Trent.

Well said Martin and spot on climate change is the new Covid! Was it climate change when these same places flooded previously in past 300 years. The floods are getting worse due to modern farming and infrastructure. If the authorities dredged the rivers and cleaned the drains out a bit more often then maybe it wouldn’t be as bad

I totally agree with you. I live near the Trent, in Nottinghamshire.

@@Takingawalkwithmybestfriendso so easy to blame something that can’t answer back and can’t be proven one way or another ,and then say it’s caused by human activity, giving the money mad government a licence to steal money from us and tell us it’s for our own survival ,amazing really how money solves all our problems our money not theirs that’s safely tucked away

Perhaps they should start dredging the river again , y'know like they used to do every year.

I am eighty-five, living in Nottinghamshire. I vaguely remember being taken from school to Dunham bridge to see the floods, and to see the amphibious 'duck', we were entranced by this!

It’s gone down at least 3 ft since Sunday 7th Jan. I live in Trent port road.1m 42 by the 3 pumps and you can see from the railings how much it’s reduced.

As someone living in Gainsborough it's nice seeing some content from the area - shame it's flooding 😂 Nice channel, wish you the best! I'm still kick-starting my own local channel about Dad life

The land is so flat for miles isn't it, inevitable the excess water just covers everything. Wildlife must be suffering as hibernating animals will be somewhere in that lot apart from anything else. I feel very sorry for people affected by this one way or another. Thank you for sharing your video.

Yeah it's going to be a big clear up that's for sure. Those affected will bounce back, humans and animals 💪

Horrible picture just came to mind,of the bridge eroding rapidly and crumbling one of these days, now i know it was built very well but do they check the foundations of it on a regular basis?
