Now I'm legitimately wondering if the Blue Album is so special and different from any of their other albums - if it was because of Cropper's direct influence upon it. There's a simple, but fun and energetic poppiness to it that was never repeated. Pinkerton is awesome, but it sounds like a very different, harsher beast (not an insult) - and that's even with Matt Sharp still in the band. Green is a listless pale imitation of Blue, Maladroit doesn't have the melodic sweetness of Blue. And the rest of the albums I'm not even going to bother with. Methinks that - even though Rivers re-recorded the guitar himself - Jason must have had more of an impact on the writing than most people think.

Andy Witmyer Dude the Blue album is an absolute masterpiece I don’t what idiots say about. Sonically and harmonically it is so good. You literally can only compare it to the Beatles best work it’s that good. And Rivers huge Beatle fan you think didn’t rub off on that genius intellect. Any who was alive or especially a teenager in middle or high school or college for that matter lying to your if they say they didn’t every single not to mention the entirety of the album, it’s absolutely unequivocally one of the top 5 ALBUMS OF THE 90’S. It’s just unbelievable it’s better now then I first put it in Walkman and listened to it front to back then, called my friends like on a real phone attached to the and told them, DUDE, Dude you like seriously need to check this band Weezer.
