New Orleans has changed a whole lot since the 70’s and 80’s. And the last time I was in New Orleans was to see UP 4015 and 4014 with the 2021 Excursion. I rode the excursion from Audobon Butterfly Riverview Park to Plaquemine’s Parish. It was a trip for my 47th birthday. And it was a trip never to forget.

If only railroads held the same standards today.

Exactly. Sadly these days it’s all about PSR and cutting crews and corners to maximize profits.

Uncle Pete still holds these standards. It’s Norfolk Southern, CSX and BNSF that don’t hold these standards that their predecessor roads held.

8:51 nice Bluebird leading in this shot. This was filmed two years after Uncle Pete absorbed Missouri Pacific, so it would be a few years until all the former MP power was repainted into UP Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Grey. The newer MP power such as C30-7’s and SD50’s were lettered and painted for the UP but the lettering was painted in Missouri Pacific Font, not UP font.

Cool I like Union Pacific in 1980s is much more simpler than today with all mergers that took place in the 90s I didn’t like the 90s mergers that well but the 80s I liked
