To answer Zak's question: all of the styles BoA does in this dance could be considered hip-hop to some extent, but it does draw on specific styles. The part where she's crossing her legs and kicking out is drawing from toprock, which is one of the four elements of breakdance and refers to intricate leg movements performed standing up that show your style and musicality while building up momentum to go down to the floor (the other three elements being downrock, the same concept but danced on the floor instead of standing, power moves, which are things like spins and jumps that are the most flashy moments of the dance, and freezes, where you suddenly stop moving to hold a pose using muscle control and balance before going back into movement). Her dance also borrows from popping, where you alternate between motion and stillness to create a robotic effect (sometimes also only moving certain parts of your body at a time, called isolations or isos, which is the origin of the wave).

Yes I really like "Piri" and it is from their most recent comeback. Interesting fact a "piri" is a Korean double reed instrument, made of bamboo, used in both Korean folk and classical music.

BoA is a dancer, i used to call her the korean Ciara rather than Britney. Also that style, yes it was a time but like..if you ever check out some of her other stuff that's honestly her style in general. Some of BoA’s early stuff has the fiercest choreography, her song “I Did It For Love” with Sean Garret isn’t her best song (although it’s still really fun) has some of the coolest choreography, seriously it is incredible!!!

Hi guys, I am soo happy you are reacting and appreciating the older Kpop as well. It’s the songs and artists like BOA and all the other 1st and 2nd generation idols (Wonder Girls, SHINee, Girls Generation, Super Junior, HOT, SES and Big Bang) that made Kpop reach to the point where it is so widely known now and received so warmly. I love seeing reactions to some Kpop classics! So many reactors only watch things that just came out, so that can get tiresome--I love when you mix it up and react to some new-to-you stuff. ^^ I'd love to see some reactions to some of the real kpop veterans who've been in the biz a long time. So many of the idols these days are just infant children, I love seeing the more mature singers kill it: my recommendation would be Brave New World by Brown Eyed Girls or Sniper (or Kiss Me Like That!) by Shinhwa 8)

At the time she worked a lot with music producers that did songs for Britney, few of the songs that Britney didn't use were given to BOA. Britney's demo version for Look Who's Talking leaked a few years ago

And that is why SM selected BoA when she was 11 or 12 and why she debuted when she was only 13 years old because she is so amazing, and she did it all as a solo artist without the help or support of a group. Can you believe that BoA debuted in 2000 which means she has been in the industry for close to 20 years now and she is only 32 years old. :D She was one of the youngest artists in the industry when she debuted and she is now one of SM's longest held artists. She started under SM and is still represented by SM. So she has been in the industry for almost 19 years and she is still younger than a lot of artists who have come after her. That's how much of a legend she is. :D "Eat You Up" was a part of her English album which was released in the U.S. and the song was pretty popular and even made it on the American music charts. She was one of the first Kpop artists to chart in the U.S. -- the song actually was played on some mainstream U.S. radio stations and was on MTV in the U.S . If you haven't already, I recommend checking out her MV for "Only One" its pretty epic and her dancing is so iconic. She is considered one of the best female dancers in the industry. BoA is an OG of OGs. I also recommend checking out some of the live performances of "Only one" because there is an iconic dance moment in the choreography that almost every lead male dancer in SM has had a cameo/featured moment in that part of the dance. Taemin has been her dance partner during "Only One" several times , as well as U-know from TVXQ, Eunhyuk from Super Junior, and Sehun of EXO, etc. Key of SHINee is such a fanboy of hers. LOL You should really watch one of the latest episodes of "Happy Together Ep. 569 with English Subs" which featured all of SM artists such as BoA, Key from SHINee, Beakhyun and Sehun from EXO, Jaehyun and Taeyong of NCT, Comedian Lee Soo Geun and MC Jeon Hyun Moo. The episode was filmed at SM Entertainment headquarters and it talks about the history of SM and all of SM's top artists, etc. It was a great episode.

Old but gold! This was actually one of the earliest songs that have brought me into kpop. I really love this song and the choreo :) Another song by Boa I like is "Only One". It's a song she wrote and composed, with a very, very great dance. And it's newer than this (2012). Might want to check that out too :)

What's really cool about her story is she went with her older brother when he auditioned for SM and out danced him as like an 11 year old so she got signed instead. She debuted as a solo artist at 14 and has been killing it ever since. She has a very distinct dance and music style in kpop that is unmistakably BoA.

YES, BoA! React to Copy and Paste! What I like about her, at least in this era, is the hip-hop dancing as well. I watched I think MBC's BoA special of her live performances from debut to present and was impressed with her dancing and mostly live singing. She didn't always have the best or most stable vocals, but she was doing it, people didn't mind then, and it didn't detract from the performances. I also noticed she improved over time.

BoA is originally a Beat Girl. She does a lot of popping and locking and other moves. All in all she is one of the best dancers in Korea. Just like Taemin she started at a young age in the industry.

An interesting fact, that you can watch on the subbed video of Weekly Idol or her reality show Keyword BoA, is that she is known for memorizing choreography VERY quickly. Also, her song Moto also has strong dancing. She actually did a dance movie with Derek Hough called "Make Your Move". Unfortunately, it didn't do well in the box office. In Korea, at the time the movie came out, the Sewol Ferry incident had occurred, so most of the country was in a state of emotional distress

Queen of k-pop!!! I loved this song back in the day. Me, a German girl that had never even heard of K-pop. I don't know how she ended up on my MP3-player, but she did and it was one of my favorite songs. Still is. Only yeeeeeears later, did I find out what k-pop was and who BoA really is. I got into k-pop in 2015, so for seven years I wandered around my life, not knowing that BoA was a) Korean and b) the queen of a "genre" I didn't even know existed... :D
