Interesting story - Flak and Shrapnel are likely a couple. If you enslave one of them for Paradise Falls, the other will vanish from Rivet City and eventually turn up at slave town fighting to rescue their partner.

Its not definitively stated in the game (or guide), but between the one bed in their room and the rather, ah, extreme measures one will use to retrieve the other (some have reported seeing a FatMan being used!) its certainly implied. There's also at least one line of dialogue as well, one is referenced as a queen, but the context is such that it doesn't immediately scream "gay!". Its just a list of things that add up to a strong possibility.

Ya know, I can appreciate the truthfulness from many of the dialogs here. Things are said that many in reality wouldn't dare say, whether it might come across as not being the politically correct thing to say, or it being something that would be a bit unlawful, etc. I can see why one might prefer to live in a VR world as it eliminates others who might come across as an annoyance or maybe even to the extent as to ridding undesirables out of ones miserable life. Living in a sardine life like situation might not be very conducive for living a better life. In fact it would seem to me to be quite detrimental. It is surprising that any of the vault dwellers ever made it past a couple of years after being cooped up with one another in such a small area.

My adventures in Rivet City were fun, but I missed a few things. Did you save the guy Lopez who is suicidal. I managed to save him the first time, but not the second. All in all this is one of my favorite locations. The side quest involving harkness is an interesting one.
