RIVETING CONTENT - Building Upper Radiator Support for LS Swap - UTX

Today at Ugly Truck, we're building an upper radiator mount for this squarebody LS swap. You know we love using parts from the donor, and this is no exception! The top of the donor core support already has holes to mount the LS radiator and cooling fans, and with a couple of small brackets, it bolts into the squarebody core support perfectly. You don't even need a welder!

Did the exact same thing with my c10 after I saw your first video. I modified my factory c10 upper radiator mounts and riveted them to the donor rad support. It’s been working flawlessly for about a year now. It’s so helpful to have this info available thanks so much!

Looks great! Idea for the plastic cover if your brackets are interfering with it. Slice open the front of donor piece and rivet bracket inside the donor piece the cover will sit flush.

Thanks Dave! That's a good idea. Our biggest problem with that plastic piece so far is trying to get that sticker off. We've tried everything, short of painting it. But I don't think painted plastic would hold up well under the hood. We'd love to see what someone else can come up with for it. Thanks for tuning in!

You mentioned that the radiator needs to sit low to avoid hitting the hood… will the lower portion that you cut out of the ‘05 radiator support work with this upper radiator modification? Thanks again for another informative and entertaining video! Rob

Awesome video I’m going to use that but I’ve got a question will that radiator work for a 6.0 or do I need to get a aluminum radiator and electric fan will it cool it just fine with the stock radiator thanks in advance

Hey Donald. This radiator takes care of the 6.0 no problem. I have installed both the all aluminum and this plastic/aluminum and have not noticed a difference. If the truck is from a warmer climate, I run a 170 degree thermostat in them and they run right around 180 degrees. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. Jerry and Emily
