I know a guy who used to repair radiators for a living. It's a lost art at least here in the states. Most radiators are just plastic and aluminum now, and generally get replaced as an entire unit instead of repaired.

Difference in America is labor costs, for most cars you can get aftermarket radiator at a price of one hour of labor. But I do remember the soldering iron that my pops had back in the old country.

There are still places that do repairs, they'll replace the tanks, the nylon reinforced plastic ones are garbage and always hair-line split etc. I had one repaired and they put steel tanks on it. The next time it happened I bought an aftermarket all aluminium radiator and kept the old core which had not failed.

Great job Sir.Respect to you from Bengaluru (India) for your attention to detail. This is recycling of lead used for welding. I have actually had this process done to a car I backpacked around Australia with back in 95. Outskirts of Perth in a junkyard/simple repair shop kind of deal. I watched the whole process while the guy was doing it, pretty much the same way this guy did it. A semiblocked radiator is a bad thing to have in the Australian summer heat. But after the repair it ran cool for 20000 km around the whole Australian continent. Almost 30 years ago now, unbelievable how time flies.

He’s doing a great job with nearly no tools. Safety is not an issue there like in America. That’s why we can’t do most of the things these people do. We are brain washed into thinking that we must be safe at any cost, even if it means not doing any work at all. I am all about being safe but sometimes you have to take a risk to get things done. If this country were to somehow collapse into the kind of world they are in, I doubt that many would be able to survive. Everyone would stand there and say you can’t do that, it’s not safe, while they starve to death. Nobody wants to get hurt or hurt someone else, but if you are left with no other option you must take a chance. That’s the reality of these people right now, every day. No government handouts, nobody’s going to save them, it’s work or die. Think about that the next time you’re upset something didn’t go your way. We have the EPA for our regulations on chemicals so we don’t do most things with them. That basically means we have someone in another country that doesn’t have an EPA do our dirty work and sell it back to us. Then we are made to believe that we are saving the planet, when all we are doing is sending the problems to someone else so we can ridicule them for being careless. Ever think about that while you sip your espresso coffee?
