I'm really rooting for Rivian to stay afloat, and I say this as someone who thinks Jeff Bezos represents much of what's wrong with America. We need more than one strong EV auto brand to help stave off the wave of Chinese EV's that are coming. Rivian makes an impressive vehicle, and I'm hoping to see a lineup of various models in the years to come.

What is your gripe with Jeff Bezos? His company created the bedrock of our modern internet (AWS) and an extremely convenient shopping experience. Personally, I love the guy.

@@akivaweil5066 It's far too complicated to explain in a KZbin comment, but I'll give you the bullet points. Bezos is on the wrong side of history and harmful to America with his political positioning. Amazon's strategy to dominate the market was immoral even though it was legal, and achieving wealth and power for the sake of those two things is in direct opposition to aspirational.

I think I read that Tesla builds some electronics in-house, and I know I saw an article about Rivian going away from Bosch electric motors to do the manufacturing themselves. Both Rivian and Tesla have assembly plants in America, and they both resource a significant percentage of parts here as well. Continuing to claw back exported labor matters. The EV revolution allows us an opportunity to change the way American auto is perceived, both domestically and abroad. Korea, Taiwan, and China will remain the titans of electronics for the foreseeable future, but I don't see how that challenges the point I'm making.

theres alot of drivers that use the passenger seat to get packages fast and removing that would take them awhile to adjust. I will be missing that big sliding door for huge packages. Great van and hoping to get these soon in california!

As a former driver, I love the in vehicle gps. Use to always go for the mercedes because of the cabin height an kept thinking how nice it would be to have that option. Does it have dark mode?...also love the passenger seat taken out.

Pros and Cons driving a EDV Pros: a lot of space Sick display Heated steering wheel Wireless charging Automatic doors No more getting gas Displays your delivery stops and packages on display screen Drives smooth Probably a lot more but this what I know from training today Cons: EDV auto brake when u lay off the gas pedal Mystery camera that your trainer won’t tell u nor ur DSP unless ya know what it is Not crazy about the gears

Sure the workers would've appreciated a built in bathroom instead of using empty bottles lol. More space for more packages. First thing that comes to mind is more stops and more time on the road. Having delivered for amazon briefly, it's a race to finish from the start.

Single speed gear box is not cause of getting less range on highway - aero is reason. Fossil cars are very inefficient at all speeds and especially so at low speeds.

Those Rivian headlights have proven to be an issue. Because they are concave and running cool (all LED headlights do), they accumulate slush and snow in winter, requiring frequent cleaning.

too bad the build quality on these new EDV's sucks balls! Otherwise, great vans! And Rivian should have worked closer w/Amazon on the height of the shelves in the cargo area as well! Totes should be stacked VERTICALLY so they take up less room than if they were laid down horizontally...but because the 1st shelf is too low, that's impossible to do! Then again, after 4 years of Amazon being in the 'package delivery business' and still not even coming close to 'perfecting' one aspect of the entire process isn't alarming IMHO!
