@@juelsokoo so far I’m loving it. There is something funny going on about the range. I’ve only been driving the truck to work an I feel like I’m not getting the range I’m supposed to be. I haven’t made a video yet, because I want to be sure before I put my experience out there. On the 15th I’m going to be towing my hellcat from Houston to Corpus Christi. Why not use the aero inserts on the wheels for the road trip?
@jbr555s11 ай бұрын
I really wanted to but the wheels that are on there got powder coat painted black and I kept reading online where people said they would scratch the wheels I was afraid they would scratch the paint on the wheels that I just got painted. Plus we were cruising 80 to 85 miles an hour I thought it would even be worse with scratching
@austina418911 ай бұрын
The rivian aero caps don't make a significant difference, tested at 1-2% at best.
@Ricers11 ай бұрын
@@austina4189 Most owners with 21" wheels are taking road trips with the inserts in. If you are doing a range test, it is odd not to include them.

I'm confused. If you got the max pack why does you starting was at 217 miles? Was it not fully charged? I thought the max pack get close to 400 miles when fully charged. Not 217.
@jbr555s10 ай бұрын
The trip we were going to take is 218 miles. The Rivian started with 400 miles of range. I started with 400 miles of range on a 218 mile trip. The trip is all uphill going into the mountains of Utah. When I left Las Vegas I was fully charged with 400 miles of range and when I arrived I had 40 miles of range left. So I used 360 miles of range to go 218 miles all up hill
@Paul-cj1wb10 ай бұрын
@@jbr555s Ah. I see. So the 217 I saw was the mileage for the trip, not the expected range. Ok, that makes sense as uphill uses a lot juice whether it's gas or electricity. I've done trips going up from the Scottsdale, AZ area to the Grand Canyon in an ICE car and had to top off in Flagstaff just to make sure I made it there. The mostly uphill trip was eating up all the gas.

How often does the Rivian have you "touch" the steering wheel while it's in auto drive mode?
@jbr555s11 ай бұрын
I think it's 5-10 seconds. I'm used to keep my hand on the wheel because I have a older Tesla so I haven't paid a lot of attention to to it.
@loganboyd11 ай бұрын
@@jbr555s Thanks, my Teslas are anywhere from 10sec to 30secs depending on driving conditions. I had a X90D in 2016 and with AP1 you could drive for 2-3min or longer without touching wheel. Ahhhh, the good ole days.

I experienced range anxiety just watching your drive. I also would not park any EV in my garage till the Battery Fire issue is solved. Nice looking car. How about range with winter snow and ice tires? What will the range be like in the colder winter months?
@jbr555s10 ай бұрын
Ha. I totally understand. My wife did to. Thank u. Yes I'm very curious how much it changes the range with some Michelin or Bridgestone snow ice tires which at some point I will be getting. I don't know if it'll be this winter or not. I'm also very curious when I put my roof box on top what that does. With my Tesla in the very cold the range doesn't change if I've warmed my battery up preconditioned it before I leave. this I'm sure will be the same for the Rivian. But with the Rivian you have to leave a few miles of it left to charge so it will warm it up before you leave it doesn't have a precondition warm up like the Tesla

Bro could do it without max pack according to the computer. Definitely wasted your 10k. Bro can’t stop for 20min to pee and snack to charge up to 80%? Besides, you bought duals, which is such a missed opportunity for such a vehicule..! If you wanted to conserve energy, you could put your quad in conserve and thus have it run on dual just the same.
@jbr555s11 ай бұрын
I wish!! When I arrived I had 40 miles of range left. The large pack has 350 miles of range and the quad motors drops it down to 320 miles of range. I used 360 miles of range. They would not have made it. The set up I have is 400 miles of range. I would've loved to have the quad motors with the range but you can't get the quad motors with the Max pack. You're right it would be awesome if I could've. If they ever get the quad motors with 400 miles range I'll trade mine in. We have three little kids and sometimes we leave late at night to go up to Duck Creek and the kids are asleep and we don't wanna stop while they're sleeping plus not having to stop if I don't want to is a nice choice. I would totally understand if other people would rather save 10 grand to stop every time it makes total sense I've been known to not make sense sometimes ha ha
