Rivington is the place to be! (05/02/23). After having longed to go to Rivington for such a long time, we hopped on the bus, walked around Rivi, drank coffee and climbed up the Pike!

Rivington pike is really a lovely place to walk up to on clear days. The pigeon tower used to have them (by its name sake) and I do believe it's turn into a place to stay in.

Great video! I used to do this journey from Liverpool. An Arriva North West day ticket would get me all the way there. I would get the 10 bus from Liverpool to St Helens, then 352 bus from St Helens to Wigan, then 575 from Wigan to Horwich. I did it one day on a freezing cold February with thick snow, but the sun was out and it was a beautiful, clear day. The view from the top of Rivington Pike was so clear that it went on for miles. I could even see through my binoculars Heysham Nuclear Power Station and the ferry leaving from Heysham Ferry Port on it`s way to the Isle of Man . Thanks for reminding of that good memory. I`ll have to give it another visit soon 😊

I rode on the 575 years ago! It was double deckers then, and operated by Blue Bus of Horwich, who Arriva subsequently took over.

You're not the only one to visit Liverpool Castle recently G! Check Jon (Auto Shenanigans) and Secrets of the M61 video he put up this last weekend. Glad you and Lucy enjoyed the walk, definitely a place to get a great view from. The coffee hut that is on the way up certainly was popular - probably catering for all the morning walkers heading up. I can definitely recommend Peel Tower (head up from Holcombe Brook or Ramsbottom) if you want a similarly good view from up top.

Great views from there. Fantastic views from Up Holland down to the Wigan stadium. Also, Teggs Nose near Macclesfield, Cheshire has great views across to Liverpool on a clear day.

Hi G, after watching this video I thought I'd go (from Southport), almost sorry I did, got totally lost with paths going in different directions with no sign posts to the top, couldn't get to that cafe quick enough when I finally saw it, after a latte set off again only to see those murderous steps to the top! anyway belly ache moan moan, it was worth it when I got there.
