That's an absolutely tiny gauge. I'd be scared of tipping over.

It's 760 mm. Could be more narrower - 600 mm for example :)

Много е красиво! На видеото е прекрасно, но на живо е почти неописуемо! Идете, ако имате възможност. Не се знае още колко ще съществува и всякаква поддръжка сигурно е добра дошла.

Very interesting journey from start to finish... any idea how much the 8 coaches weighed? The gradients must have been severe to cause the locomotive to overheat. I used to have that problem, particularly in the summer on 2-car DMU trains... one engine would revert to idling mode (as designed) when it got too hot, causing the engine in the other car to do all the work... which would then also overheat and revert to idling, leaving you stranded with no power at all...until the engines cooled down... the cooling fan operates proportionally to engine speed, so if the engine is idling, it cannot cool the radiator quickly... The cooling fan is also excellent at pulling oily debris, newspapers, etc, etc into the underslung radiator, causing it to become blocked up... good old British Railways engineering that...

Hi! Thanks for the comment! The weight of 1 coach is about 14 t, so 8 coaches should weight about 112 t. These locomotives doesn't overheat so often. In the previous video, the emergency stop at Pashovi was because the exhaust catch a small fire due to the high temperatures and the many soot and oil debris there. A bottle of water was enough to extinguish the fire. The previous version of these locomotives - class 76 have had a lot of troubles with overheating and quickly after the delivery they are sent to another narrow gauge line in Northern Bulgaria (now closed) where there aren't so many steep and long ascents. In the locomotives class 77 the overheating problems are solved, the locomotive is pretty similar to class 76, just there are bigger radiators and bigger ducts for cooling. We have some DMU Siemens Desiro which have similar problems to your DMU trains with the cooling. Their radiators are also mounted under the carriage and the cooling fans sucks a lot of debris, grass, dust, newspapers, plastic bags etc. which often is causing an overheating of the engine. Of course, the Bulgarian maintenance of the DMU's is also not so good which also helps for the often overheating.

I remember in the 1980's being stopped at Preston Park station, near Brighton for a red signal; I watched a 1,500t freight train with a class 56 diesel-electric locomotive working at full power ascending the 1:96/1.1% gradient from Hove... Alarmingly, the locomotive had a vivid blue flame, like a 1 metre long gas jet coming from the exhaust. I contacted the signalman to get the train stopped and examined... it took a while for him to answer... but when he did, he said that the train had just failed between Preston Park and Patcham Tunnel due to a burned-out turbo-charger on the locomotive, and that the driver had set off the Co2 fire extinguishers to stop it from catching fire... just what you need to spoil your day...

Please note that the first 30 of the 135 Class 56 freight locomotives were built by Electroputere in Romania... after endless problems and complete lack of reliability, all 30 of them had to be stripped down and rebuilt by British Rail... Most of the class 56 locomotives have now been withdrawn from service and scrapped...

@@bigcasey4143 We also have locomotives from Electroputere factory - diesel class 06 and electric class 46. In my opinion the quality of both of the series is not good... but in the soviet era Romania had a external financial debt to Bulgaria and they paid it with locomotives. :)
