Nice trip through Sofia. It is fascinating to see all these international shops in the shopping streets: they do not adapt to Bulgaria, everything has inscriptions in latin letters. I have once been in Sofia in 1993. Back then, everything was written in cyrillic letters. Have the green trams been bought from Basel? Thumb up for the good video! Dirk

Dirk Upnmoor Hi! The green trams were donated to the Sofia municipality three years ago. We didn’t pay a cent for them. They are good trams, I like them. :)

Do you know, whether the swiss trams were adapted from 1000 mm gauge to 1009 mm gauge? Or is this within tolerances and they run them as is? Знаете ли дали швейцарските трамваи са били адаптирани от междурелсие 1000 мм към междурелсие 1009 мм? Или това е в рамките на допустимите отклонения и те ги експлоатират в този вид?

The swiss trams were adapted to 1009 mm. I think it's not safe to run with passenger if they aren't adapted, because there are places in Sofia, where the tram infrastructure is very bad and the trams could easily derailed if there is such gap. They ran on their standard 1000 mm gauge only after the delivery, from the place of the delivery to the tram depot.

So considering the Sofia METRO wasn't built until after the Communist era, did everyone just get around by tram before that during the Communist era?
