@ElMaestroGordo
@ElMaestroGordo Жыл бұрын
Well, the Imperial Senate would eventually be dissolved just before the events of 'A New Hope'. Palpatine keeps it around for appearances. It is simply a talking shop to deflect attentions. The Grand Moffs and Imperial Viceroys run the galaxy. Besides, I like to think Senator Chuchi would be one of the 1st to defect to the Republic. Senator Organa, like Mon Mothma, is probably already under suspicion. Notice that Senator Pamlo(?) was briefly seen & she is stood around the briefing in 'Rogue One' before Jyn Erso leaves for Scarif.

Not really, as Chuchi's actions is what Sideous wanted to divert funding by the Senate to human recruits which would save the empire a lot of funding to secretly push into the Death Star project.

I love this scene because it's really not a victory. When you think about it, everything here is going exactly as Palpatine wanted. The Clone Program is destroyed, leaving the Storm Troopers as the only military program remaining. The Kaminoans don't have any way to create new clones of any kind and are effectively removed from their position of power in the galaxy entirely. All remaining evidence of Order 66 and the plotting behind it has been sent to the bottom of the ocean. And Rampart acted as a convenient scapegoat, taking the blame off the Empire as a whole and shifting it onto an individual.

I think a hidden context is that to a lot of people it was obvious Palpatine was behind this, but the fact that Sidious goes along with Chuchi gives enough leeway and paranoia in public relations where most people will overlook or excuse this. That is why Palpatine is there personally. Most of the senators are on his side and will back him up no matter what. When he speaks he's not necessarily trying to convince them. They already know to follow his cue, they have been doing that for a long time. This is about conformity.

Palpatine owns the trade routes, the largest army the galaxy has ever seen, the only fighting navy, the banking clan, the commerce guilds, the trade federation, all of it. So he doesn't have to even kill Chuchi or Mon Mothma or Bail to shut them up, because no matter what they say in the senate, it is useless. It shows that Chuchi and Organa dont like the Empire or Palpatine yes, but it also shows that they will work within the bounds of the senate, rather than starting an organized rebellion. Yes it implicates them in the theft of the command log, but them hiring mercs to steal leverage on their political enemy again doesnt portray them as rebels, just as the opposition party. It doesnt tie them to any rebellious activity and if anything proves they can be manipulated and are therefore useful to Palpatine.

If this was the command log OF Rampart's Venator, then how come it SHOWS the Venator from an exterior POV? Surely, if anything, it would show the ship's guns blasting away at Tipoca City from the ship's own POV?

The Kamino situation was nonsense. it makes no sense for the Empire to destroy Kamino. The location of Kamino *may* have been public, but why is that even an issue? it shows Filoni's lack of knowledge about basic SW lore, especially in tandem with the Ahsoka show where he claimed that it was the first time we were seeing a different galaxy on screen. Kamino is not in the main Star Wars galaxy, nor was it a readily accessible area that just anyone could get to. The hyperspace lanes leading to the planet would have been under strict Imperial control, there is 0 security risk. And if the Empire was going to continue cloning, why would they destroy the perfectly good facilities on Kamino? Legends has a way better take on Kamino, up until TFU, but TFU doesn't make any sense lore wise and is basically fanon.

@prestonlee9965

I disagree. From a risk standpoint, it was in the best interests of the Empire to destroy Kamino. Kamino was capable of producing some of, if not, the best clone soldiers in the known Star Wars universe, and produce enough in scale to topple galactic governments. If the empire was not going to use the resources in Kimino, it would make sense to eliminate them so that they could not be used against the Empire. While the Rishi Maze was relatively easy to defend, we saw in the Clone Wars that such defenses were far from invulnerable. With Kimino out of the way, the Empire did not have to worry about another clone army appearing out of nowhere and could redistribute the resources required for its protection to other causes.
@tk-6967
@tk-6967 Жыл бұрын
@@prestonlee9965 The clones weren't a threat, and Kamino was never in danger. All TCW demonstrated is that it was theoretically possible to invade Kamino, but even with that sort of fleet the CIS couldn't and were never supposed to take it. Unless the Hapes Consortium or some other crazy EU faction came out of nowhere and attacked Kamino for no reason, there was 0 chance of Kamino falling. And yes, I am aware of TFU 2 having Kamino fall to the Rebels, but TFU 2 is moronic nonsense unfit to be called canon in any universe with serious lore.
@prestonlee9965
@prestonlee9965 Жыл бұрын
@@tk-6967 True, but why risk it? Think of it this way, the Empire could spend the massive amounts of credits to keep a fleet and garrison there to protect a facility that they won’t use, or they could save the money by destroying the facility, thus ensuring no one could use it.
