Like other people here are saying it’s really only his mother passing that changed him. Everything else is just an inflated version of who he’s always been. He went from thinking he was going to get the respect from corporations that he wanted (back when he was collabing with Nike) to being frustrated at the corporations not wanting to work with him on his terms and not giving him the respect he felt he deserved (yeezus era) to reaching the level of retail success where his ego just went even more through the roof and now he feels he can say whatever he wants. He’s also said since the graduation era that his “backpack” era was over and done with and he never wanted to go backwards or make any music that sounded like his old music. People say they want the old Ye when he’s literally said multiple times he never wants to be like the previous versions of himself. You could say you’d prefer him to still be making college dropout type beats wearing a backback but I’m sure becoming a billionaire and doing all the things he’s done in music and fashion since TCD that he’s more happy with the path he chose. And everything he does in music and fashion sells, so I’m sure he thinks every thought he has is genius. He’s a creative egomaniac with ideas and knows how to make headlines when he has something to sell. He went from calling out the label execs, to calling out the labels themselves, to now calling out the people who control the entire industry at large. It’s just been a progression as he’s reached higher levels of success.
