With SSA it feels even worse than the other region swaps because they don't even have an SSA player. The OCE+EU to APAC and the 2xEU to NA both at least teamed with some local talent. First step to it not feeling awful is actually moving to the region (many who played in SSA didn't). Next step is having at least one player from the region. If 2Die4 was on Mobula I'd be super happy for 2Die4 and cheering for him to do well on lan. This is the worst of all aspects of a team moving.

With the Furia thing, if everybody looked at those clips without names attached or any knowledge it was a RLCS game, let alone SAM known for their aggressive and high mech gameplay, you'd assume the PoV you're watching is trolling or throwing. I know for an absolute fact everyone watching would agree if you detached any knowledge you have of the context from the clips. They 100% threw in the sense of not putting effort into their gameplay. I personally don't give a fuck, makes no difference to me which SAM team goes to LAN, but it's obvious they were proactively trying less and being less compeitive in the series.

Major flaw of this sistem is that the scoring for major 1 and 2 is not the same. It make an unfair environment, especially between 2 teams, 1 making the first major and the other team making the second one. The second one has an unfair advantage of gaining more points while finishing in the exact same position. And imo they did that simply to have a more interesting 2nd half of the season, to have more possible drama and better entertainment with teams catching up. While making it very unfair for the teams.
@jaysteveo96327 ай бұрын
It really isn't unfair. World's needs to have the best team participating so a team peaking in split 2 would be better than a team slumping into split 2 and just scraping enough points to qualify. If points are exactly the same across both splits it will just create gaps too big for teams to try overcome and just become whoever makes major 1 and gets 1 or 2 wins will go to world's unless they massively fall off. Like Shopify, SSG etc would have had almost no chance at trying to overtake LG or OG.
@Domi-gv1io7 ай бұрын
@@jaysteveo9632 I really tried to agree, and to a degree i agree with the first point that the team peaking in split 2 is possibly (possibly!) better for the lan, but still it doesnt make it fair. 1 team peaked in split 1 got 16 pts the other peaked in 2nd , finished on the same position got awarded more points? I don't like that one bit. We are being unfair for the (possible) entertainment purposes. The second point doesn't stand at all (with all due respect) because to qualify for major 2 they all start from 0 pts again, you know that? They have 3 open quals again, so the other set of teams can qualify for major 2. No gap is created. ( and then back to my first point, those major 2 teams then get more points on that major 2 that the group of teams on that major 1. ) This sistem actually even favorites WORSE or more inconsistent teams to have a better chance to qualify for the worlds because all they need to do is with a bit of luck be solid on major 2, that will gain them more pts for the same effort. Meaning we might have weaker worlds. LG, Shopify, Cloud9, M80 etc.all had the exact same chances like OG to make major 2. They just gained less points across 3 quals . And Shopify fell in the tie-breaker. So it was all fair and square.
@jaysteveo96327 ай бұрын
@@Domi-gv1io "The second point doesn't stand at all (with all due respect) because to qualify for major 2 they all start from 0 pts again, you know that?" So you just don't understand how it works then. The points increase is for world's qualification to encourage some variance, Cinderella runs and keep the top teams focused enough to not just take a break like Johnny says in the podcast. If that's unfair to you still you just don't enjoy storylines in sports and only want to see dominance unchallenged. The points increase also literally doesn't matter at all for qualification to the individual major's because the points don't carry over, as you say they "start from 0 points".
@Domi-gv1io7 ай бұрын
@@jaysteveo9632 Cinderella runs are the best part, they also need to be legit, can't give teams more points just to force a cinderella run. It isnt fair if team X wins 5 series and gets 25 pts while team Y with 5 wins gets 30 pts. Now read carefully, 3 qualifications for majors 1 and 3 qualifications for majors 2 are 2 separate tournaments. So everyone has the same chance to qualify for major 1 and 2, meaning "dominance is challenged". You gotta beat the best teams to be their rival. No shortcuts.

Then he turns around and starts preaching that the top 8 should auto qual to the main event?? Wouldn't auto qualing into the main event support auto qualing too early for worlds? 2/3 rule is fine but what if the player that moved to the certain region becomes a citizen in the next year lets say. Then the whole team is 3/3 and that gives them the chance to kick one of those 2 original players from that region and add another guy from europe. And now you have a team of 2 europeans and 1 ssa ( for example). Thats why i would make it mandatory to be a citizen of a country (from that region) for at least 2 or 3 years to be able to compete in that region. Or make it 1 year + players voting from that region ( players from best 16 or 32 teams in that region) to decide if they want certain european or any other player coming into their region. That way they decide if they want to slowly take other players in the region with the idea of gradualy making the region and players in it stronger, by playing with and against slightly better players.
@notheories90127 ай бұрын
Johnny's take on teams "mailing it in" if they are already qualified is fair but killing the integrity of the events for that is dumb. Maybe the answer is for all majors to be a "worlds" and you have one for the first half of the year and one for the second. That way each regional/major is weighted equally and players aren't qualifying for some event many months in advance.
@goldengaming1777 ай бұрын
Furia definitely threw that series. This is why banning YMC was overkill. Now any time a team throws or plays "carelessly" the only punishment is a ban. If they had suspended YMC for a small period or taken away RLCS points then they would have more leeway in investigating Furia and maybe leveraging a small punishment.
@skyh3r0es7 ай бұрын
I think a little bit of both would be good punishment imo, like maybe immediately ban them from the current qualifier and make them play with minus major points in the next qualifier, not too cruel as the current ban, but not too easy so they would start doing it again the next time they had the chance, and ofcourse the amount of point that would be deducted in the next qualifier can be changed based on how severe the crime was
