Second R211 enters passenger service!

On June 29, R211A cars 4070-4079 entered service on the (A) line. After months of testing the pilot cars, the pilot set was accepted allowing additional cars to enter service. The MTA hopes to have two new trains in service every month.
Here we see the first production R211A cars (4070-4079)'s very first moments in passenger service. In addition, this is the first train in the entire fleet where all cars in the train (10 in this case), are brand cars (

​@@KingofGamingAndTrains456 The (C) won't get it's Share of the R211A's till early- 2025. Which is Option Order 1 R211A's will enter service. Right now, the MTA needs to have the (A) 100% NTT by August-October 2024. To facilitate testing 8th avenue CBTC during overnight hours.

Jamaica Yard won't be getting any R211s, if anything, the 5car sets in the 2nd option would go to the (N)(Q) and (W) for fleet expansion there.

First of all your predictions are wrong none of these are headed to Jamaica since they have less capacity than R160’s if you look at 8:08 these is a hump there preventing people from standing or sitting on the corners which causes less capacity so none of these are going to Jamaica since R160’s can hold more capacity all R160’s are staying at Jamaica permanently for faster maintenance operations no R160’s will be headed to the Bronx on Coney Island because I’ll will cause maintenance nightmares keep dreaming the MTA wants fleet uniformity and Jamaica is staying 100% R160’s since they hold the most capacity and the R211’s are headed to the A, C, B, D lines weather you like it or not and when the B is not running they will appear on the N, Q, W lines.

R211 car assignments Base order (440 cars) R211's The Base order of 440 cars are going to the A and C to retire 356 R46's at Pitkin Yard; the exceptions are 75 R211S for Staten Island Railway and the 20 R211T Pilot Trains with open gangways. Both the A and C will also share a fleet Option order 1 (640 cars) R211A's 240 cars are going to Pitkin/207th for service expansion on the A and C This will Push out 92 (4-car) R179's to ENY for Service Increase on the J/Z and making C Trains full length 10-car Trains, Meanwhile The Reast of the 400 cars are going to Jamaica for the E and F Since Queens Boulevard is the busiest corridor in the B Division. The R211's terns of design is total highest capacity and wider doors are ideal for those lines. This will Displace 300 R160's to Concourse to Displace All R68's to Coney Island to Run on the N, Q and W, as Broadway won't get CBTC anytime soon but the N, Q and W can use a small amount of R160's During weekends when the B isn't Running. Option order 2 405 (5-car units) R211T's All 5-car sets in the 2nd Option order are going to Jamica to make Both the E and F 100% R211's This will Displace 400 R160's to Coney Island with All R68/A's getting transferred to the N, Q and W with 20 R160's for service expansion on the B and D with the Remaining 660 R160's at Jamaica are enough to make G trains full length at 10-cars each, and the remainder adding 155 R160's for service expansion on the G and R lines Option order 2 32 (4-car units) R211's All 32 4-car sets in the 2nd Option order are going to ENY to increase the spare factor and for service increase on the M line; With 92 (4-car) R179's on the J/Z This will Push out 56 R143's to the L line for Service Increase Which is More than enough so the J/Z and L won't be needing the 4-car R211's To Wrap up A/C: 130 (5-car) R179's, 760 R211/A's, 20 R211T's (The A and C can share all cars) B, D: 720 R160A-2's E, F: 725 R211A/T's G, R: 660 R160B's J/Z: 188 (4-car) R179's, 64 R160A-1's L: 212 R143's, 40 R160A-1's M: 268 R160A-1's, 32 R211's N, Q, W: 416 R68's, 200 R68A's May use a small amount of R160's During weekends when the B isn't Running Rockaway Shuttle: 8 (5-car) R179's (Also Shared from the A and C) With these Assignments the R211A's will go to the E and F Since Those lines have the highest ridership, The MTA might have those 405 cars as R211T's if they approve of that order will help with the overcrowding and will reduce dwell times on Both the E and F Due to the R211's terms of design having wider doors and total higher capacity than the R160's since Queens Boulevard is the busiest corridor in the B Division For the People that think Jamaica would stay 100% R160's ​​​​​​​​​​​​Queens Boulevard is a line with high ridership, behind the Canarsie and Flushing Line. Therefore it would make more sense for the R211A's out of the option order to go to Jamaica Yard. Fleet assignments are based on CBTC installations and fleet age to some extent, with CBTC taking priority. A line like the 8th Avenue A and C trains do have old cars and are in the process of getting CBTC. Therefore, it would be beneficial to get R211 cars. In contrast, you have lines like the Broadway N/W and W that are using old cars, but are NOT earmarked for CBTC installation. Therefore, it would be unwise to send R211's over to all of these lines. Now you have the open gangway trains. A Big increase in space compared to the R160, a third criteria has been added. high ridership. As mentioned before, Queens Boulevard has high ridership and crowding on the E and F routes is prominent. Given this, the QBL already has CBTC and these two lines have high ridership, so it would make sense to have R211's go over there, with the R160 cars offloaded onto lower volume lines. It really makes zero sense for train cars of higher capacity to be assigned with lower volumes of ridership while high ridership lines get stuck with lower capacity cars. It really doesn't match. with the R211's also considered for the E and F, things become more efficient. Remember, just Because the R211's replacing the R46 cars DOES not mean that they only have to go to lines with these cars. It is definitely okay to assign these cars to lines that don't even have the old cars like Jamaica and off load the cars from said yard to the yards with older cars.

We are mostly headed in that direction, though the A and C will get them first. About all 440 base order cars and about 130 of the first option order cars will go to both lines. From there we could be seeing the other 510 cars go the F route. From there the rest of the order except for 32 cars in 4-car sets will go for the E route. The other 32 cars will go to J/Z, L, and M service.

You're in luck good sir the R211's will be replacing r46's for now but soon the old R68 models will be replaced with R211's as well sad to see the R68's go soon in my opinion. I'm a huge fan of howling moters and the R68's have them the most. For even more fantastic news the number lines will be getting simmiler lines as the R262 models are expected to be in NYC within the next 10 years with 10 years being the maximum number
