As boat refugee who left VN at the age of 14 coming to America and have served in the Navy for 30 years, this HBO series should ring a bell for me. Thank you for this great panel discussion.

This is a treasure of a project! Having this perspective of Vietnam from the novel is transformative. Lived thru this war from the American perspective of neighbors & Kent State college students dying in the conflict & its auxiliary protests. To see it now from the Vietnamese perspective opens our minds. Thank you for creating this series.

Wow! I really enjoyed listening to this panel especially from park Chan wook. He provided stimulating insights into the creative process, character analysis, and the similarities between Vietnam and Korea where both countries went through the same war but came out to each a different ending. Thank you so much for uploading this panel discussion!

I was wishing that Charlie N. was part of this series, for some reason that would make the series completed.

Robert Downey Jr plays so many characters because famous actors would not play a role with short screen time. Don’t let anybody bullshit you about this. I admit I am not a fan of rdj. Don’t watch his movies cause I don’t like him. He supposedly is being paid 80 million dollars for his next movie in 2026. That is fucking ridiculous. Regret that Viet than Nguyen made this decision

I think the authors of the book may speaks more focus, shouldn't be like a talk show for him

Agreed. This host is not great and should stick to writing. He should be highlighting comments from the director.

Vietnam war was not a civil war. During the war in Vietnam 58,000 American soldiers killed, 153,000 were wounded, 766 war prisoners what did that mean ? is that the American Civil War in viet Nam soil ? Today we have a film The cilvil war of Ameri-Nam. khakhakha. Even Vienamese in the south didn't call for help to American, not at all. We were good after victory the battle of Dien Bien Phu with the French monster. How could comes up the American "loved " us so much they poured in a lot modern weapon, sent their soldiers and launched nightmare operations. 2 millions of Vietnamese had died in the fight for their lives, unitl now They still having the question, why.

@tuyentrinh - excellent point about the VN War was NEVER a civil war. The US interjected themselves into the country because it knew the country was going to follow Ho Chi Minh's effort to gain its long deserved independence so the US and CIA created a counter figurehead in Ngo Dinh Diem. It never allow VN to hold an election as promised, again, because it knew South VN didn't give a damn about Ngo Dinh Diem.
