Sean Connery made no attempt to sound Russian, he just went full on Scottish and no one cared and it was a great Movie. For American Audiences at least, we would rather hear inaccurate accents than have to "Have" to read subtitles. The emotions of acting and the message can be delivered far better in someone's native language, regardless of the accent.

This is such a brilliant film. It has this perfect balance between taking the piss out of the Nazis and showing the plights and struggles of the Jewish people and the resistance living in the Germany. I think humour is one of the most under valued tools in fighting evil. I think it's so important that we take tragic events and treat them carefully and respectfully for the sake of the people who suffered. But it seems to me that all these tyrannical leaders love being feared and seen as powerful. There should be more media content that humiliates and makes a laughing stock of evil ideology and the people who believe it. We should be laughing at things like nazis, the cruel leaders of the British empire, people involved in the slave trade, white supremacists, all of the racist and fascist, power hungry and cruel leaders and perpetrators of our past and present. To me, the ability to laugh at people who believe irrational and terrible things whilst also being respectful and compassionate to this they hurt is such a powerful teaching tool and one taika waititi has managed to execute so incredibly in this film.

Hearing their real accents amazes me, because they had solid German/Austrian accents in the film, especially Scarlett Johannson, Thomasin McKenzie, and Stephen Merchant. I've only seen trailers obviously, but if I had to guess who Taika modelled his Hitler voice on, it was probably Viago Von Dorna Schmarten Scheden Heimburg (né von Blitzenberg).

Each of these actors shine brilliantly in their respective roles in the movie. Taika has made an excellent film. Loved watching this movie, can't stop thinking about it.

I LOVE Taika Waititi's sense of humor, the sweet boy who starrred in the movie, LOL at Merchant's and Rockwell's comments, etc. Great interview---thanks!

I didn't realise it was Sam as the German officer, great job. Stephen is a great comedy actor. Just watching him on extras, hilarious.

I'm showing this movie to my high school students right now and we are laughing and crying together.... wonderful and impactful end to our school year. I love how they understand how amazing this film is.

I feel that young people should be exposed to these kinds of truths' as it teaches appreciation and builds awareness and dispenses with any illusion of false entitlement. There are many other movies out there that showcase that freedom is indeed not free. A must watch for your next class, Band of Brothers, Schindler's List.

I felt so sad when Jojo were asking Elsa about what their people are like, how Elsa would first talk about her thoughts but then Jojo doesnt believe her. It happened to me so many times when I was trying to answer questions from people who asked me about my country, and I would say it but they just believe in the stereotypes and prejudice... and then it just gets worst from there. But imagine how lost and confused Jojo must be, in between two groups of people from the opposite sides, two different stories. Laughed so hard in the beginning and cried so hard at the end, can't believe some of the things in the movie are still being experienced by people right now around the world. Hope things gets better and love love love love the movie!

7:00 True story: I'm watching this AMAZING film (floored throughout - one of my favorite films of all time now) and I truly didn't know who the director was (and had never heard of him before) and when this amazing actor comes on the screen playing Hitler (the way he is played in this film) I genuinely actually said to myself "my God, to thread the needle and… I don't know how much casting they had to do - must've been worldwide - to find exactly the right person to play Hitler exactly this way - absolutely brilliant casting!"… Then after the film and practically in tears when I discovered that the director who created this amazing film also played Adolf Hitler IN this very film! Absolutely astounding!!!

Fun Fact: Roman, even though it was his first movie as actor, has some interesting movie background: his grandmother is Gabrielle Beaumont, director of some episodes of famous tv-shows like The Waltons, M.A.S.H., Remington Steele, Miami Vice, Star Trek: The Next Generation and so on... !

After watching (and loving) the trailer for Jojo Rabbit, I watched and really enjoyed 'Leave No Trace', a previous film of Thomasin's with actor Ben Foster. For a young actor, her dramatic performance in Leave No Trace is very impressive. Roman's acting from the Jojo trailer also looks spot on. I suspect and hope that this film will be something quite special with a lot of heart, in both the performances and the story.
