Rlaarlo MK07 - Big Truck, Big Disappointment

I was SO excited to get this rock crawler! I paid for the fast shipping and bought all the accessories! Pulled it out of the box and started to notice issues right away. Took it for its first drive and.... well just check the video out and see for yourself. Really bums me out as I thought this thing would be as great as it is in everyone elses videos. I hope Rlaarlo makes it right.

$500 is a lot of money for a fancy light kit . I made a comment about the quality of this rig on rc review KZbin channel and he almost got offended.

Great review!! I expects some these thing to be present as it is cheaply made to get to the price point. We can’t have SCX6 expectations for under half the price imo but it should not have all that noise and and stuff out the box. I bet there’s zero grease I that gearbox. Love your videos brother! I got the green one too!!!! Rlaarlo should definitely replace the parts.

Mate, I have the carbon fibre AK787 as well as the carbon fibre Omni Terminator (both great cars), and was just about to drop the hammer on an MK-07, until I saw your video. I think I'll give it a miss for now. Appreciate the heads-up.

Bought a bunch of brass parts from Rlaarlo for mine, one piece (outer cover for front portal) has a defect in it, Rlaarlo won't give me or even sell me the individual part, I have to buy the whole kit (4 pcs). If you're going with brass portals in the front with the wheel weights, you'll have to shorten the screws, not a big deal but they didn't offer much of an answer to that either.

In the followup video to this one I also installed the brass portal covers and on one I had to sand open the bearing hole a tad to get the baring in there. 3 fit fine and one was a tad off. As far as the screws, mine were the correct size. I just used the ones the weights came with and didnt have any issues.

@@TheDudeRc My bearings in the cover that's causing me an issue look to be sitting flat just like the other side, there's just a micro difference in the machining that's causing the issue I guess, the axle turns but I definitely feel more resistance on that side than the others. My screws are actually okay but for some reason, when I tighten everything down, same set up on front as you, the outer portal cover is loose, it's like the wheel weight bottoms out on something before it makes contact with the outer cover to tighten everything up, it's hard contact too so it's not budging. After looking at the stock plastic outer cover and the brass one, the stock one is about 1 mm thicker where the screws go thru, my gap is about 1mm after tightening the wheel weight. Looks like I'm gonna have to source some washers to put between the wheel weight and outer portal cover.

I put a 17 tooth pinion on mine also and I think that the tooth spacing is just a tad different between the stock gear and a MOD1 gear that I put in it, mine is fairly loud as well. I also didn't like how loose the suspension was so I put 70 weight shock oil in the shocks and it still flexes great put seems much more planted and doesn't rock side to side as bad. I had no screws that are rusty and I have no complaints on how it performs. I did do the steering mod as well, much better steering throw.

Any further updates from your conversation with Rlaarlo?? I see their comment/ your response below but I'm super curious to see if they replaced any (or all) of the truck for you? You're completely right, there are too many other Tubers making videos of them throwing OP systems in there and this truck handling it just fine... Sucks to say but I'm really hoping you just got a melon and they send you a new one!

I have responded to that email but the trucks issues go beyond a stripped gear and some rusted screws. There is a power delivery issue and as can be heard in the video, the transmission/transfer case is VERY loud and half of the servos are not working properly. Please advise.

I'm mixed on this. Part of me likes the fancy, flashy options and think it's a great value. The other part of me paid $1200 for a SCX6 without all that stuff but it hasn't missed a beat in a year now. Realistically you can't expect premium quality at bargain prices. I've always heard you can have cheap or good. Not both. I still think this rig is a decent deal with a lot of potential. I'm not gonna get to excited over a few issues in the first run batch. People are paying $700 for a Traxxas truck with a plastic geared servo and horrible suspension.

Just got brand new from Amazon Omni terminator and although truck drives ok first time, center drive shaft is bent and wobbles from center diff to front diff? How is that possible? Wheels wobble like center punched hole for mount axle to go through is too wide not snug fit so tires wobble when spinning and weird not loud light grinding noise.. diffs so far seem ok, maybe vibration from bent center shaft.. front shocks absorb and re center, rear shocks go down but not re center. No leaks from diffs or shocks yet, battery connector on first connect made spark pop sound when plugged into esc.. thought sumthin shorted… If they send me new warranty part asap I’ll be happy I gUEss for since truck cost 233 bucks out the door. Also they don’t even put the stickers on body any more.. ugh….

i think the company should replace the whole unit , get it back and study and learn from it, it's a recent product, it can have issues, and obviously there is much wrong in that particular unit from the start. what would be good too is an honest feedback from them after they reviewed it.

I agree. They need to study this unit to see what went wrong. They are sending me all the replacement parts though so I will get them all swapped out and hope that this rig can redeem itself. I really do have high hopes for this rig.

Mine does not roll with the power off either, I think its the way the transmission is and the big motor.

I hope yours isn't plagued with all the issues mine has. The time difference alone makes getting any communications with them very hard. I dont even know if they will send me the rear gears now. They want me to blow the transmission and transfer case apart to take pictures as I suppose the video wasn't enough to show them it has issues as well. As of now, they are refusing to replace the unit that has two bad servos, bad trans, bad transfer case, bent axle, blown rear end and weak motor. They want me to blow it apart? Okay, but I aint using tools! LOL

The Rx box is setup just like a Traxxas one just without the o-ring. So its pretty water resistant and if I can find a gasket to fit then will be fairly water proof. Since this video I have checked the servos and ESC and light kit and have not seen any issues despit them all being under water several times in the video I made of it after this one.

I have mixed feelings about this company. It's not a well known name like traxxas,hpi, team associated, etc. etc. The price is comparable to well known hobby grade rc's but the quality just doesn't seem to be that great.

Ive had an email about them replacing the rusted screws and stripped rear gear. Problem is, the truck also has power/transmission issues as well as shown in the video and I would like them to address that as well.

They are going to ruin a company that could be good if they would actually get some customer service and get things shipped in a reasonable amount of time. Also, they will rip you off so be careful
