Thanks! My wife’s father recently passed away. We have been together 25 years and her dad tinkered with the lock in the front door the whole time I knew him. It recently stopped working and my wife and I have been trying to repair it for 6 months, and we found your video. We just fixed it!❤ Thank you so much!!🎉😅

Thanx for the Video. It so nice to have an explanation of all the parts and what they do. Sitting at home with COVID so have been rewatching some of your other mortise videos.

Get better soon Gumby! I caught a bug over the weekend but testing negative to covid. Lost sense of smell but that has happened with other colds in the past.

Thanks for showing us how to work as a "Mechanic" with all the tips & tricks on the various Baldwin Mortise locks, by the "school of experience", and perhaps a bit of the "school of hard knocks" I think.

Good to know locksmiths still willing and able to fix mortise locks.

This video answered a lot of my questions and is very helpful. At 17:29, you mention “One little bar.” That dastardly piece needed to be removed from my mortise set, but until I watched it to the VERY END, I couldn't figure out where you removed it. Thank you for your instruction.

Great tip at tip end!!! noted. I treasure my Baldwin "puzzle" mortise lock. It sits keyed up on top of my desk like a trophy. I await the phone call from the customer that has an issue with one, I sincerely look forward to the challenge to fix it. Got my block ready Coach! Thanks!

Really helpful video! Unfortunately, though my lock looks like the 5 screw case cover version, I could find no spindle like in the video. The problem is droopy heavy brass handle on the inside. . Is the single coil spring inside the case likely to be the problem? Really a cool all brass mechanism. Whose the wizard that invented it?

@20:50 when you talk about removing the bar to change the function where you dont have to manually unlock the buttons after throwing the deadbolt, would the principle be the same on similar brands like emtek or rocky mountain where your able to remove a similar piece to achieve the same goal?
@selock2 жыл бұрын
more than likely, emtek is pretty much a copy of Baldwin but I don’t often run across them enough to say for sure :)

@@robertriggs7865 the only way it would be able to unlock is if that top button was flipped the wrong way, but even then the deadbolt being engaged should stop it anywsy

I currently have a Baldwin set with a lever lock. Being old the thumb lever is hard to operate. Can the trim be replaced with a trim set with only knobs/Levers without changing the mortise lock?🙏

Have you tried lubricating the interior of the mortise lock. Get a good quality Lube like Tri-Flow, Houdini, or LPS1 push in the latch, stick the straw in angled upwards and give it a 2-3 second burst
