I just realized I forgot the cheap micrometer that was sitting on the pin kit the whole video. They can get VERY spendy but for basic use a inexpensive one is better than none :)

Totally agree -- a cheap $20 4" digital caliper is one of my most frequent go-to workbench tools. So compact and handy for lots of tasks. Love the video series so far btw.

Hi Jason. Thanks for the video, I learned that there's another use for the clip removal pliers. I didn't know about the tighten the loosened clips. Thanks for that.

Haven't watched this yet, but I can already tell the series is going to be good! It's all about the basics man. Every new locksmith needs a good foundation. Thanks Jason!

Thanks for making this Jason, very helpful. On the tweezers (starting at 7:01) I noticed that to find the long pointy ones you sometimes have to search for "lab" or "surgical" or "forceps" to find non-cosmetic long tweezers like you showed. One which looks pretty similar to the one you showed was "HTS 171S6 6.25" Straight Stainless Steel College Tweezers" but there are others too. What I've learned is that 1) I have zero ability to guess the length of tweezers from pictures, and 2) sometimes listings hide or bury the length way down the product page 😂

Fantastic!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I don't have to say it but I love tools. The more the better!! I found two Foley Belsaw ket duplicators. One is large and one is so portable I could probably put it in my pocket. I didn't look at them yet but I do not believe they have micrometers on them. I might have to modify them. I would like to start out doing lockouts for automobiles and then get to residential.

You mentioned those knipex alligator pliers a while back. I went ahead and got myself some men because they look pretty cool and I got to tell you that's one of the best tool Investments I've ever made.

Thanks for the simple approach Jason! I’m looking forward to the supporting videos throughout this series. I love how you explain the “why” it’s important as you instruct.. thanks again!

When I was trying to decide to start my business in Indiana, I called the state licensing office and asked what kind of license or other requirements I needed to meet. The lady told me they didn't care if I called myself a locksmith and only used a sledgehammer to open doors...as long as I paid for my business license.

Knipex 8" bolt cutters are great for such things. Get a small bench grinder or belt sander to clean up the edges, too.

That Husky screwdriver you sent me is now my favorite for re-keys. Very fast for the fingers when a drill is over kill etc. This series is fantastic whether you are experienced or not! A tip from me...Black Friday/Christmas season is by far the best time to invest in good tools! #lockforce

The Old Goat. Great rundown on tools. Will you get into rivet tools and where you use them later? I’ve been looking at a Milwaukee M-12 rivet tool but where are rivets used and how often?

As a 30 year plus locksmith, I can hear the heads explode as they hear this lol. How hard can it be rekeying a lock and copying keys? Hahahaha….ah I digress….watched some of your videos, well done. Lab Super Pro wedge .003 owner myself, wouldn’t have it any other way! And yes we do need all these tools! My significant other wonders as well what the heck I am buying all the time.
