This is so beautiful. He sings it with exactly Joni's feelings. Young and touching and just so full of heart. Must be the wind blowing down the plains that stretch from Saskatoon to Oklahoma. Thanks Randy for sharing this actual true 100% joy with us.

Excellent. I had the great privilege of spending time with Michael a few weeks prior to his passing. I received him at the airport in Houston on his Oracle tour in October 1997. We spent time in his hotel room talking (& smokin' out) and he made me this fantastic apple/ginger juice (he traveled with a juicer). Around that time the G3 tour was coming through Houston featuring Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson & Adrian Legg as the acoustic opener. Michael told me he was offered the opening slot of that tour, but he turned it down because they would not let him headline. We also discussed Pat Martino’s album ‘All Sides Now’ which Michael was featured on. Michael told me he’d had Joe Satriani (also on that CD) and Pat Martino at his home studio for some recording sessions before the release of that album. In December 1997, I remember sitting in my office and the secretary walking up to my desk and handing me a fax from Michael’s agency SRO Artists. I was deeply saddened when I read the fax announcing Michael’s passing. I immediately left work, went home, played guitar to honor Michael, and drowned out my sorrow. I was incredibly moved by Michael during our brief meeting. I’m grateful for his presence then and now

Man..I can't think of a more magical youtube vid. My two favorite musicians. Hedges pre fame and playing Joni Mitchell. This is a jewel. I was fortunate enough to see Hedges in the 80's when living in Colorado and again a few time in NYC. Thank you soooo much for posting.

wow. what an amazing interpretation from such a great young talent. michael's 27 here, and in full display of what he'd become over the next 16 years. I got to see him perform about a dozen times, from small venues to carnegie hall and every time was as amazing as this. what a tragedy to loose him so young, yet it remains my honor to have enjoyed such an amazing performer.....

@@rlutge 🌄Living in Yosemite for over 30 years, with no internet until recently, i just found You-tube about 7 months ago! Your music videos of Michael are so special. Thank you! As I follow Croz on IG, i left comments/DM with links to your You-tube uploads of Michael! It’s great that “Ritual Dance”(cover) was featured in the film, “August Rush.”

I wasn't raised on children's stories or nursery rhymes. This was one of those to me, and I'm in radio in Canada today because of it. We lost radio mentor here today, so it sent my searching for radio songs that I love and here I am. I love your version of this Joni classic! It's instantaneously a go-to song for me now, your version. Thank you so much for your talent!

Thanks so much for uploading these for us, Randy. I first heard Michael in the Varsity Courtyard, then kept coming back. Living in Los Gatos allowed me to see every show of his in the Bay Area through the end. At a daytime Paul Masson concert I wore my long hair in many tiny braids and my gray, sleeveless space shirt that was just like the one he wore alot. During his break he was walking around the grounds talking to people and he spotted me. It gave him a good laugh. I'll never stop missing him.

This is maybe the one cover tune in the universe he actually plays in the tuning it was written in. Says something about Joni as a guitarist, and Michael.

It’s not easy to play like Joni Mitchel or Bruce Cockburn but he did it so well. He has to be entertaining the Angles now. Seems we always lose great talent too soon.
