rm Italy kl60 short test

I have this little amp for UKFM - I drive at 4w to get 20w out. I run a noctua fan to keep it cool.

I have an old model of this amp in the red case, the mosfet blew up. RM Italy grinds the front of them so you cant see what to replace it with, but I found an IRF520 is a good replacement. They are easy to work on especially the older ones, but you have to research on parts RM Italy wont tell you or help you on part replacements.

I run the KL 300P and Love it, Killer on sideband, but with all Rm Italy low drive amps, No More than 4 watts Dead Key or you'll shorten the life of the amp.

@@frankdiminnie No Fan on the KL 300P, but I put one on it to keep it cool, I have been using it daily for over a year now and it works like new, just 3 watts out of my RCI 2950DX gets me 180 on am, and about 260 on Sideband, (Both on High output, about half of that on Low output) I could get more out of it but I do just fine. May I ask sir, what radio are you using and does it have a swing kit in it?

You’re going to kill that amp slamming 5w DK on AM. SSB ok but not on AM.

Probably, but used in the mobile with stock uniden pro 520 xl that DK 4 watts for 4 or 5 months with np at all. The trick is to keep them cool 😎. I do have a few of the RM Italy Liner amplifiers. Kl60, kl200,kl200p,kl203p and kl503 all have fan kits. All have been on my base for prove out testing without any issues. They seem to be tougher than most people think. Thanks for your comment. @@frankdiminnie I have a KL203. Your right about using a fan! They can get really warm if your talking for a while. I use mine with 2w DK with a 15w swing on AM. When on I have a 35w DK and it swings PEP to 190w. Definitely has that 1:4 swing ratio. Plenty of headroom. They get some flak for being a budget amp but treat them nice they will perform!! Anyways, try a 2w DK. You might get better performance.👍🏼
