Yes, most riders prefer to start in 2nd gear but it's really personal preference and bike dependent.

hes doing it on a smooth pad of concrete but if youre not on a smooth pad of concrete than this is all false

where i race we dont have a perfectly smooth pad of concrete. Our pad has a rough texture almost like sandpaper. So when he says lean back to get traction, on a rough pad that would make you loop-out. Im just saying not everyone is from the west coast where the weather is perfect and stuff like concrete doesnt erode overtime.
