I went from FOX Comp 8’s to Astars Tech 7’s and didn’t look back!! The Tech 7 for me is great if you’re like me maybe you don’t ride as often as you’d like to so you can’t justify spending all that cash on a boot like the SG12 or the Tech 10, the Tech 7 is awesome because you get a premium quality boot from Alpinestars at a very good price! Super comfortable, pretty much 0 break in time and they look the part! Plus of course awesome protection :)

@Piston17767 жыл бұрын
The damn things are so squeaky they have instructions in the manual on how to eliminate it lol. Besides that though long as you don't have wide feet SIDI's are the best boots in the buisness IMO but even if you do have wide feet you can go a size up. That's what my brother did because of that issue and he loves them.

I have the fox instincts and have worn and raced in these boots for almost 2 months. The light gray color is more of a baby blue color and the boots are significantly heavier than my previous comp 5s. They do feel very comfortable and a lot of breath ability. The buckles are very easy to open and close except that the buckle piece is somewhat pointy and if your finger or hand slips off it is not the best feeling. The first few times I wore these boots it felt like right above your foot it was very stiff and hard but after a few rides it went away and the entire boot was very comfortable. The top of the boot is also very big however I do not wear a knee brace and with the strap as tight and it can get the isn’t much room around my leg but just enough for a little bit of dirt to get in. I have not worn any alpine-stars so I’m not able to compare it to those but so far I haven’t had a single problem with them.
@rmatvmc6 жыл бұрын
That's awesome to hear, Michael. Thank you for that feedback. I've worn the instincts for years and have experienced everything you mentioned except the opening part (I wear knee braces). Definitely one of my favorite boots. Lots of feeling on the brake pedal and foot pegs. Give us a 6 month update when you get there! Thanks for watching.-Chase

@CW-up7xv6 жыл бұрын
I've had Sidi crossfire 2's and Garne SG 10s. My favorite boot is actually the Forma Predator 2.0's. They are easily the same quality (Italian hand made) with better features than the gaerne and sidi's! And they're cheaper than both. they're wider than the Sidi's and fit similar to Gaerne. You guys should look into supplying them, they're the best!

I have the Gearne Sg12s and i am thinking about switching over to the Formas! the SG is a great boot but it does not secure my ankle in place enough, I feel my ankle moving up and down sometimes, how do the formas fit if you dont mind me asking?
@CW-up7xv6 жыл бұрын
@@violetsareblue92 I have a wide foot and they fit well. For me, no issues on feet slipping in the boot. Sounds like your boot is too small for you? The formas have more protection than the sg12's.

Awesome review Chase all the boots look and sound great! Have had most of the brands in the review though not the same models, never had Fox boots! Gaerne have a lower model I think 3rd model down in the older range was just a good traditional boot at the time, still have them, they just last and last, that model was ok not best fit for me, so went to Tech8s which were a great boot, at the time I enjoyed the bootie, but for off road etc more of a pain for me! I have always had Sidis in road bikes, dirtbikes and even MtB, fit and wear has always been exceptional for me at the time I couldn't get the model I wanted so hence the tech8. But have the Crossfire 2 now and Sidi for life for me. Few reasons, they had me at replaceable, that's very compelling, as I ride mainly off road do some track but only about 10% of my riding! Which leads to my other reason why Sidi! The SRS sole with the CF 2 I can use the Enduro sole as my primary sole and MX sole for track, for supermoto guys they also have a supermoto sole, I don't do supermoto so for me not needed, but that's cool, then all the other replaceable components just amazing! I usually have two set of boots for rotation and adverse conditions, so get allot of wear out of em, the one disadvantage is I'd like the SRS3 now for the added protection levels they have advanced, but my 2s are just too good a condition to replace darn it. I understand that the 3 can also use the same sole insert for Enduro as the 2, but the 3 can't take the supermoto insert like the 2 can. Do like the Gaerne SG12 looks and sounds a great boot, always been a fan of the brand too. Good enough for TravisP lol. Lastly both Gaerne and SIDI are made in Italy nothing is like Italian made in garments imo. I still have Fox kit that used to be made in Finland originally not Asia! They are still mint even with a few oil stains from my 125cc days lol. You can't beat Euro quality imo. Cheers👍

Ive got the sidi crossfirs 2 ta ill compare them to my alpinestar 10 that i had before the sidi so the sidi you feel straight away they feel lighter and easier to walk around in they also last alot longer more so the sole but the one thing i hate about the sidi that i love about the tech 10 is the buckles man if sidi had buckles like the tech 10 the sidi would be flawless the tech 10 are so easy to buckle up you dont need to put any force and dont need to bend your back to the side because tech 10 buckles are on the front of the boot haha it can be really annoying first thing in the morning twisting around and having to really push down on them sidi buckles but having said that i still would choose sidi over tech 10

@rmatvmc6 жыл бұрын
Henry, the difference is very minimal. Because the Tech 10 has the inner bootie, venting and breath-ability is a little more limited. I don't think you've notice a difference between either.

Hi there I currently have the tech 7 an older model probably 2011.. love them however find them very stiff hard to change gears even after adjusting height of the gear shifter. Looking at a new set of boots, any recommendations?? Thanks in advance
@rmatvmc7 жыл бұрын
Kyle, that is a tough question my man. There are so many good boots to choose from. Here are my thoughts and hopefully, the help you out. The new tech 7 are an awesome boot with a low profile toe box, flexible (not too flexy) and I know have good feel for shifting, much better than the old ones. The other boot that i have a lot of time in and really like is the Instinct. I feel that these have some of the best feel of any boot with just the right amount of flex and I always have an easy time feeling my shifter and knowing exactly where my toes are, this is important for me and something i look for in a boot. They're also extremely comfortable right out of the box. Happy riding~Chase

Those are two very different feeling boots. The Tech 7 sole seems softer and for me, has more feel on the footpegs. I have the fox instincts and can’t find a fault if I try but I like the look of the tech 10s too. Anyone know if I should stick with instinct or go to tech 10 and why.
@rmatvmc7 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can wrong with either one. What advice I can give that might be useful is the break-in time. The Tech10s do take longer to brake in. They're not like the instinct where you can basically throw on a new pair and feel like you've had them for months. But those Tech10s though! They look good and after they break in, they're a really good boot. Also, you've got to keep in mind that inner bootie, it kind of makes the boot look and feel really big on my feet. But that's just me. For what it's worth, I've been riding in the SG12s this year too. Definitely stiffer, but they're dang comfortable and they last forever. They do, however, take some getting used to, but after a few rides I felt right at home. Durability on the Instincts is one area I feel it could improve. Hope this helps~Chase
@henryberkin78417 жыл бұрын
Rocky Mountain ATV MC thanks for that. Not too worried about break in time because I was used to wearing house bricks as boots pretty much until I got the instincts. I agree the instinct soles are not the most durable but I’ve found the more ripped up they get, the more grip you get too. I wasn’t too sure to get more instincts or a pair of tech 10s but those were the only two I was really interested in. Is either boot more comfortable and more safe? Which one feels less like you have a pair of boots on. Can you really feel much of a difference with the booty? Thanks

They really are a solid boot. Last a long time and Fox offers replaceable soles. That's one thing I always look for in a mx boot, are all the replaceable parts you can get. Hope this helps *Zac Cuthbert.* Salud *-Vinny*

The FOX are great, like really good. good price and FOX made a great top level boot. One big problem witch is steering me away sadly. The sole.... They get chewed up so badly that i've had mine go in for re sole about 3 times, twice done by FOX themselves and it took over 3 weeks. 90% of the time they came un glued after a few rides. I may just try the tech 10's this year and see how they go....

fox instinct or gaerne sg12 ??
@rmatvmc7 жыл бұрын
Ooooh, that is a tough decision. I'm currently using those two boots right now so here are my thoughts. Instinct has more step in comfort and better feel on the controls. I can really feel where my feet are at on the shifter and brake pedal. Buckles work well and like i mentioned, these things are dang comfortable! Gaerne SG12-Also very comfortable, but stiffer than the instinct. But the memory foam around the ankle is very nice. If you want a stiffer boot, SG12 is awesome. The sole is stiffer and has less flex which does take away some of the feel on the pegs, shift lever, and brake pedal. Gaerne construction is second to none. If i was buying a boot that i thought would last longest, SG12 hands down. But the instincts still last me a long time. Hope this helps.~Chase
