I have the Siding srs since 2006. I first looked at the tech10, but couldn't fit my foot because of the inside shoe. I then tried the Siding, and OMG that was a revelation! Those are so comfortable I feel I'm in my house shoes! And I have a pretty regular foot width for my size. Close to 0 breaking time, and great control right of the box.

You're high if you think the Tech 7 fits a wider foot. The made it narrower than the old style stitched boot and tapered the medial side to make it look like a cowboy boot. Can you say missed shifts and braking? I'm not sure who has pointy feet where the middle toe is the longest one but it sure isn't me! If you like to size up so you have no feel for the end of your boot, shifter, and brake pedal, go for it!

I got the tech 7's over the tech 10's as I have a wider foot and a 19" calf (22" with my EVS braces). The Tech 7's give me plenty of room in my calf and look badass too!
@xburtonboardnx
@xburtonboardnx 7 жыл бұрын
How do you close yours? My calves are similar and with my EVS RS8 Pros, I can barely get the velcro to touch, and the buckle is almost fully extended.
@Womb2DaTomb

The Velcro is quite tight I'll admit but the buckle I don't think is fully extended! But it is probably near the end of the strap I'd imagine

Were the Forma Predators considered in this?! A more unknown brand, but they build really nice boots as well. Great vid by the way. RMATV always seems to get a lot of my money!

Forma makes great boots, but for this video we focused on some of what we think are our favorite, fearture rich boots in the industry for offroad riding, mixed with protection.

Caroline Purdy I would have to say Gaerne SG12's. To put it simply, their bottom soles just last longer from what i've experienced and seen. Thanks

I'd go with the fox instinct. They have a wider foot bed. And feel better on the feet. But it's personal preference.

i run sg12's, i have a narrow foot and they fit like ski boots. a much better fit & feel than my tech 8's or the 10's i tried. the fox boots felt as though they had minimal support, and felt like it was just another marketing ploy towards devoted fox brand "kids". i have never tried sidi

Would you recommend tech 10s for 85 riders
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 6 жыл бұрын
I would say it really depends on skill level. I know plenty of 85 riders that wear the tech 10s that race at a high level and love them. The tech 7 would be another great option. There are plenty of current pro riders that use the tech 7. But for beginner riders, you cold go with a less expensive boot like a tech 5 or a tech 3. Gaerne also makes some popular youth boots as well -Chase

I've heard in some reviews that the tech 7s have really wide openings at the top, even when tightened down. I was planning on getting some tech 7s but after seeing this it has me second guessing a little bit. I have skinny calves and don't want to have too much space at the top when riding. I may get some knee braces at some point (and I may not) which would fill in that space but I want my boots to fit comfortably without having the need for something else. Would you agree that the leg openings are particularly large? Any way could get a measurement of the opening with them tightened down completely at the top? Nobody carries the tech 7 in my area so I'm not able to check them out for myself.

I just went and measured a men's sz. 9 A-stars Tech 7. I cinched the boot up to the very last of the velcro patch and i got a measurement of a 4" inch opening. I haven't heard of Astars having too large of an opening. Hope this helps! ~Vinny

@jt86tn 8 жыл бұрын
+Rocky Mountain ATV MC Thanks man that was really cool of you to do that! 4" doesn't seem so big. I had saw a video where a guy had them on and said he had them as tight at they would go at the top and you could see there was a lot of space left but maybe he didn't actually get them as tight as they can go and just thought he had. I've actually decided I'm going to get some kind of low profile knee guards of some sort (not sure which ones and not knee braces) so that should help take up any open space that might be left. I'm also trying decide between 2 helmets lol. The Bell MX 9 mips pro circuit/monster or the Fox V2 union in the white/black with the green vents and green top. I'm very indecisive lol.

If I'm not too late, I'd like to chime in. Like Chase, I have larger calves and wear knee braces. I wear the tech 7's, and like them, but the opening is very narrow and I can barely close the buckles on their most extended setting. The velcro barely reaches. I've heard Gaerne has wider opening's so I may give those a try next time.

Hey. I just recently shattered my ankle in oneil elements. Well I'm out for the rest of the year with plenty to think about. I don't think I'll be able to afford more than 500 since I'm out of work. Are these boots all about the same when it comes to safety? Or is there one that would protect my ankle better than the others?
@anthonycavalliotis8736

If your ankle is shattered, buying new boots won't help you bud.
@robertfisher5309
@robertfisher5309 7 жыл бұрын
anthony cavalliotis yeah it's getting better. 7 screws and a plate later. I ask because I don't want to break it again after it heals. No riding for me till it heals. I'm even waiting a extra month just incase.
@anthonycavalliotis8736

I think u may have broken your ankle, not shattered it. On the 26th of October, 2014 a CRF450R broke my tibia & fibula at the ankle and foot was dislocated too while I was remounting my bike. Was wearing Sidi srs2 boots which are very comfortable and light, however I think the the heavier Alpinestars tech 10 are a better boot for ankle protection as the don't fold to the left or right at the ankle joint. I'm deciding too weather to update with either the new Sidi srs3 or Tech 10's.

Just starting out here. I have some shitty old O'Neal boots that I got used a few years ago. I can't move my ankle at all. Need to be broken in? Or need new boots? Worried about having problems shifting.
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 7 жыл бұрын
If you're starting out I would say run them till you can't anymore. Most newer boots need to be broken in a little bit as well. Stiffness can provide ankle support, but like you said there's potential of not being able to move your ankle to well. I would give your O'neal boots a shot and try to get used to them. Motorcycle boots do break in overtime. Hope this helps.
