Did you ever figure out why the hydraulic lifter thingys relax over time letting the outdrive drop to the ground?

As always, thanks for another awesome video. When you were talking about the big dent and mentioned the wrinkle it made me think that a wrinkle in time would be an awesome name for the boat LOL take care, looking forward to the next video

One tip I learned, warm up your lower gear lube before pumping it in to the lower unit. 60° and warmer are the best days to do that job

Sweet video Michael & many thanks for all of your time/effort in producing them for us. I see @ the end of your videos, clips of you & your son & sometimes a friend. Does your wife also like the water? Since it seems like your always working, do you ever take time to go fishing? How many days approx do you go to the water in a week or month? Keep those videos rolling!!! Have a beautiful day!!! Illinois, USA

I had a droopy Merc Tower of power, same pumps etc. Empty the fluid, then get some Lucas Transmission Fix. Put that in at about one part Lucas to 3 parts hydraulic fluid. I use Bars Leak Jack Oil. After some cycles the system now holds.

Nice work on the instal and stern drive lift you made made things so much easier. When you ordered the stern drive did you have to give SEI your engine number to get the correct stern drive? Thanks, Tim

The bearings on my upper input shaft seized up due to losing all the gear oil from a large crack in the lower unit from hitting some something metal in the water early last season. I didn't notice until it wa too late Ended up ordering a SE106 upper and lower from SEI just as you did Oh, wow... that packing job they do is amazing I had to grind a bit on my trim tab to clear my prop...LOL Did you first notice they no longer use that O-ring on the input shaft on the lower unit? I was a bit worried I may have ordered the wrong parts but after giving SEI a call the told me even Mercruiser discontinued that as well back in the day. Mercruiser even put out a notice to not use that O-ring on the older units as well. I watched your video on building that out drive lift and I plan on building one myself Oh, make sure to break that lower in as specified by SEI... 10hrs without going over I think it was 4000 RPM Annealing aluminum with some heat to soften it is your friend 😀 Another great video, keep them coming!!

Rotation Left Hand (LH) rotation is considered to be standard while Right hand (RH) is considered an “Opposite” rotation. You should ALWAYS view the the engine rotation while standing behind the engine and looking at the flywheel. A LH engine spins CCW (Standard Rotation) A RH engine spins CW (Opposite Rotation) IMPORTANT: It is extremely important to note that engine and propeller rotation are not one and the same. In most cases the propeller rotation will differ from the engine rotation due to the gearing. A few of the older, “Iron-Body” transmissions with specific ratios would turn either direction. But, in general, when standing at the back of the boat looking forward, with a single STD Rotation (LH/CCW) engine, most of the transmissions turned CW (opposite of the engine). This is the same as the sterndrives and these applications require a RH prop (if the driver is on the right-hand side, this compensates for “boat role” due to the driver weight). For twins, the RH prop is normally the STBD and the LH is the Port, ‘OUT’ (although this probably doesn’t make much difference for inboards but this gives the best steering control for sterndrives). Typically rotating the props ‘IN’ allows a little more top speed but less overall vessel control.

A friend of mine has an inboard v drive that has a left hand spinning engine. It has a special cam, distributer, and starter all to make the v drive spin the direction they wanted. really confused him when he went to work on it.

I’m no expert but I would say your original drive with the lifting ring is a MC-1 and your new drive is an Alpha 1.

One thing you edit out fully putting out drive on . you had it on up to the studs then the video was chopped then you was torquing the nut's did you have a problem with it going together or was it a video problem. On bigger boats like Yachts or boats with two inboard engines they have engine for the right side it turns right the engine for the Left side turns Left. For say your out boating and your left starter stop working all you have on your boat is a starter that spins right well your out of luck it will not work you will need to fine a starter for Left side or get your old starter rebuilt. I don't no about outboard boat's with two motors if they have motors that turn Left an a right I would have to look it up I may do that just to know if I ever found a boat with two motors and the boat was junk but the motors was good can I put one on a boat and the other motor on a nether boat hmmmm can you put a motor that turns left on a boat
