RMZ 450 Restoration Part One ! [Top End Disassembly]

this is the first part of my 2007 rmz 450 restoration. in this part i brake down the top end of the bike showing the basic steps for repairing your engine.

My 07 rmz450 is not in good shape I think I blew the top end yesterday I'm really bummed out the bike is so nice I put so many aftermarket parts time and effort into it I built it for racing but I ragged it out a little too much over the weekend I'm desperately searching for an answer that can help me find out how to possibly fix it it's kind of hard to find information on such a old and specific model but boy am I lucky to have you around thanks for this video

Whats the issue. I learned alot on these bikes through failure. It is hard to find info. I am a mod in a Facebook group that deals in these. Suzuki rmz450 HQ

@@TAULBEE I had dragged it out all day over the weekend riding with some buddies after three tank refills and A writing session lasting between 11 AM to 8 PM I was on my way home 1 mile down the road before my bike started sputtering I pulled the clutch and it shuts off completely I roll onto the side of the road try to kick it it starts back up after I had to put the choke on I thought all was well until I pulled the clutch kicked it down into gear the moment I let go it cut off instantly with that electrical sound not sure what it is or how to describe it it has compression and honestly feels just a tad bit harder to kick them before like there's more resistance or friction I pulled my gas tank to check the spark plug and the spark plug was covered in carbon residue the metal piece that hangs over to create the arc on one end seems to be a little bentt like something hit it inside the Head I can see lots of carbon residue and what seems to be a little tiny specks of metal or something shiny I check my oil in there was a Little oil in it but I had to tip the bike all the way over almost laying it down just to see any oil come out of the drain screw That's on the side of the clutch cover I drain the oil and I'd say about half a quart came out the oil was very dark and that's about all I can describe

@@TAULBEE I can go so far as to take the carb out and remove all the plastics but when it comes to The actual motor I am a noob and do not intend to attempt taking that apart to further inspect

@@YourLocalStoneyhate to say it but it sounds like like u ran low on oil and shot the motor

What would cause a hit plug like you were talking about would be dropping a valve bit u would know if that was the problem. Big problem with our engine is the heads. The cams don't ride on a bearing like most moters. Instead the aluminum on the head. So to much damage and the head is junk

I have a 06 that needs a head 🤦🏾‍♂️. But car Manufacturers are working on solenoids to replace valves . It will trickle down eventually.

@@TAULBEE i unfortunately trusted a irresponsable mechanic and now I have my bike in pieces and the engine disassembled maybe you got some tips to get started

@@tonitodejesus8811 ah what did u do wrong. The best way is just to get your manual or one off the internet and get to reading. Step by step as close as you can. Mine is up and running now
