Hey dude! Your video just showed up on my recommended. I'm a second-year med student, former CVICU RN. Chose medicine for all the same reasons as you. Keep it up bro! It's a longer road for us but there is so much perspective and bedside skill that we've gained as nurses.

Hey, I stumbled across your video. I'm a current 4th year med student and matched family medicine with the U.S. Army. You said this very clearly and concisely. I wish you the best in your career as a physician and I'm happy to help out if anyone here has questions!

You have a great mindset man. I’m a CRNA and love my decision. I felt the same way about CRNA as you do about being a physician. Keep on keeping on brother!

Wrapping up my RN this semester. Been thinking about the switch. I won’t even have my BSN yet. As strongly as I feel about gaining more knowledge and having a more advanced scope of practice. I can’t get over the feeling that family and connection with people outside of the hospital matters more to me. I’m 26 and I would be maybe 37 or 38 by the time I’d be an attending? If you had a partner or were considering having a kid do you think you would have made a different decision?

Hi! Thank you so much for making these videos. I've been a nurse for 4 years and just starting ICU. Med school has always been in the back of my mind. I started taking prereqs when I was in nursing school but then stopped once I started working. I'm also active duty Army. Really leaning towards finishing up my prereqs and apply to med school in 2 years or so and hope to go to a school where the military pays for it

Hey Pat, love the videos! I'm currently where you were a few years ago. I just graduated from nursing school in May 2022 and started working in a L1 trauma ER. I love what I do but I can't help but watch what physicians get to do and think "I wish I was allowed/knew how to do that". Felt like all throughout nursing school I was told to know information about xyz but could never piece together why/how they were all connected(the not knowing eats away at me). I know I want to go back to school and I think my gut tells me MD/DO. Would love to talk to you more about your experience/decision making process for some more wisdom.

Jeremy! my man thanks so much for your comment. I wrote this long reply a few days ago.. I was sitting here upset you didn't respond.. then looked back and for some reason my comment never posted. In short.. I feel we have a lot of parallels in our thoughts and emotions and I can really relate to where you are at right now. Would love to talk more and help however I can. Maybe best to follow me on insta - RN2MD (I really don't use it but should) and DM me. Stay well brother

One doubt, kindly consider is there any entrance test need to clear.. For RN to MD...?? About how many years it may take to become RN(BSN) to MD ?
@RN2MDpat
@RN2MDpat Жыл бұрын
Hey! so there is not a direct route to go from RN to MD. It's actually not very straightforward. You will have to take the MCAT just like everyone else who wants to go to medical school. I went back and took a few classes while working which helped me get some good grades as well as prep for the MCAT. I like to think I lay the process out decently in my previous videos!! overall for me there was a 3 year gap between graduating nursing school and starting medical school but that may be different for everyone!

they made step 1 and step 2 pass/fail. its no longer based on merit its subjective based off what your professors and preceptors think you will be deemed worthy of. alot of MD's will make less then CRNA lol
@RN2MDpat
@RN2MDpat Жыл бұрын
hey dude, thanks for being here and sharing your thoughts. I think these are important and fruitful conversations to have. Step1 has become p/f however step2 is still scored. Are not most assessments that are not a numerical score subjective? Anyways at my school in order to have a high pass in rotations you need to do well on shelf exams which are a numerical assessment as well as have high subjective assessments from the physicians you work with. I personally would prefer step1 to be scored but just because step1 is p/f does not mean merit does not still play a major part. In regards to pay. If you have seen a few of my videos you know that salary is not a a big part of my decision making process. Regardless, I dont think your comments have much substance. A quick google search will give you an idea of compensation. Are you in the medical field? Take Care!
