Just listened to this part of the Novel and they seemed to have cut out some bits that make things more understandable. Like that guy who was praying was actually a Christian but his prayer actually pissed off the statue since it abided by the rules of a different God from a different realm eather than the one the Statue is modeled after (one of the Monarchs). Also tha last Commandment was supposed to be "show your faith". A few details that makes the story more versatile and all. But they probably didn't want to risk offending somebody which happens to most adaptations that have even the slightest hint of Christianity not being a solution to something tends to get cut. Also the reason his heart didn't stop with that time limit, is once again because they cut back on explanations where Sung Jin Woo noticed that time was moving by so slowly it almost seemed frozen after the screen appears.
