I knew Robert Plant pre Led Zep. We come from the same small town in the Black Country and he would often come down to our blues club. He was always willing get up onstage and jam with us. Off stage he is quietly spoken and quite shy. He still lives in the area, albeit a much larger place in the countryside!
@sicotshit7068

Can’t imagine him shy, but I’ve heard he’s so nice & down to earth, he has a great sense of humor too. My favorite singer, with his amazing range tone & textures, I know it doesn’t come as easily for him these days though. I’m glad he’s still doing what he loves, & he shared it with all of us, he made the best choice choosing his music.

That's so cool. I'm not of that generation, but in the late 80s i worked a restaurant and one of the guys i worked with also worked as a DJ in a local club in Seattle. When Robert Plant was in town, i think i was around 1988, he stopped at that club and volunteered to perform and jumped up on stage (this was after his concert at the local arena) and performed a couple of songs. Obviously everyone there loved it and the guy i worked with wouldn't wash his hand for a week (he shook robert's hand).

Hi great you are starting to listen to rock music as a young person. I,m 75 rears old and have gone through many eras of music. Have to say my generation was so privileged to been in that era from 1965 to 1980 ,greatest era ever. The innovation,explosion of many styles, genres in todays speak. Rock, Mowtown, Soul, Funk Soul, Northern soul, later blues, psychedelic rock,disco to name but a few. Led Zep greatest band ever, Stairway to Heaven released 08/11/1971 but so many other great rock bands. Humble Pie, Jimi Hendricks, Santana, Family, Chicago, Steely Dan. Altman Brothers, ELO, Joe Cocker, Manfred Manns Earth Band. Lynryd Skynyrd. THe Who, Rolling Stones. The list goes on. Hope you will look in to these bands. Great younger people are getting interested and will carry on the legacy of this great music.

Okay I am not going to lie, when I saw this thumbnail on my feed I clicked on it for two reasons!! First is you are an amazingly beautiful young woman!! Gorgeous!! Secondly I love watching young people reacting to this music from the 70s or even earlier!! I completely understand your perspective on what you imagined rock music was before you actually started listening to it!! This song was from the early 1970s but I urge you to go back further and listen to some of the very early Rock from the late 50s and 60s!! What people of your generation don't realize until you really dive into it is that rock music began in the late 50s and it was something completely different than what our fathers and mothers listened to and what was popular previously from before World War II until probably right around 1955 which is when the first early rock and roll began to emerge!! And then you had the British invasion of the 1960s which brought in music that changed the very core of what music WAS and how it could be produced!! THIS song and THIS era of the 1970s is a culmination of that wave and music evolved into a very personal and mystic and soul reaching entity!! Continue on your journey you have earned a new subscriber!!❤❤

Since they are from England, you're from England, so let's keep with the spirit and take a looksee at the most incredible solo performer........definitely best EVER, the one and only.........Miss Lucy Thomas, also from England (man, what's in the water in our friends across the pond?!!!) who just finished her London, England debut in the historic West End Theatre district, performing at the Theatre Royal, the most prestigious of all theatres, last night! She is incredible in the studio, always a masterpiece performance, but LIVE........WOW! Check ANYTHING out you want, but I would start with her studio version of "Hallelujah"! Your entire demeanor changed when Plant's voice soared in after one of the most famous guitar bridges, ever. 😄 This is regarded by many as the greatest rock song of all time, and that's arguably true. However, the *band's* favorite is the song, "Kashmir," which is also my personal favorite rock song of all time. You should given that one a listen, as soon as you can. Go with the studio version first -- it has more magic than the live versions (which are great in their own way, but not the same). Money makes life easier, and buys *pleasures* , but our relationships with people we care about -- and who care about us -- really make us happy. In this song, the band contrasts a material existence ("The Lady who's sure...") with a more spiritual one ("The Lady... who shines white light and wants to show..."). Moreover, they say the way to cure the distractions and obsessions with money requires that we get back in touch with the natural world ("The Piper will lead us to reason..."). As an atheist, I don't really buy "spirituality" -- to me, it's all human psychology and mental well-being, and nothing supernatural -- but do agree that an obsession with material existence is shallow, ultimately pointless, and can motivate people to cause great harm to others. I do like how quickly you recognized the themes. All that said, this is a fine song and I never tire of hearing it. I also enjoy seeing people experience it for the first time. Try "Kashmir," though.

It's funny because I think I just watched your Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple Man reaction, and I made the comment in there that indeed it was a band and it's actually one of the most iconic bands in rock music history. Well it's right there with Led Zep. Both of them are these towering giants, and they were both kind of ahead of their time, and they both influenced lots of music to come. Led Zeppelin exploded on the scene in the late sixties and who are huge through the 70s before John bonham, one of the greatest rock drummers ever, died tragically at an early age and that ended the band, kind of similar to the plane crash ending Lynyrd Skynyrd as we knew them. It's such a deep rabbit hole but they really had tons of hits, and then even things that weren't hits, we're just so good. They were so creative and so good at what they did and they were cutting edge at the time.

So 53 years ago this song arrived and when I listened to it I looked very much like you did listening. The lyrics are mystical and draw you in the music is strolling along slowly building up to the crescendo and your head starts moving to music and it’s almost euphoric! Great to see it’s still having the same effect on young people listening to it for the first time! Great reaction ❤👏🏻

This song is from 1971, from Led Zeppelin's 4th album, which is untitled, but known as Led Zeppelin IV. Considered by many to be the greatest rock album of all time 😁

It may have been the greatest, I can't say, but zero doubt Led Zeppelin I had the greatest impact because no one had ever heard of Zeppelin & man oh man, what an introduction to the World! Began with such a banger too - Good Times Bad Times.

Dark Side is the best album of all time (it's an actual full album, unlike Zep4 which is just a collection of their latest songs) but Zep 1 is my fav album all time (from a guy born in 1976 and a long time semi pro singer and bassist, who thought Nirvana was the best band until i got into classic rock after Kurt died).

@@sigischmidt367 Well, I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan too, so I'm really not in a position to argue on this point 👍😂
