All that work for $141. And you haven't even sold the cards yet. I think you might want to think hard about your career choices. WotC wants you poor. Thanks for the vid though.

You are correct. Money can be made in bulk but the bulk needs to be purchased at a bulk rate not mass box opened. 2nd hand market is where stores should be making their profit, grading cards and buying out collections. And the fees for leasing a sorter are so high I'm not sure how enough volume can be sourced to make it profitable.

I could literally sit and watch something like this for every set that comes out for every product! Would be a fun series. Whether its cases of Magic, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Super, Digimon, any of it would be a fun and educational watch. Another good video could be a TCGPlayer direct tutorial. I know I have boxes of bulk I am sitting on and it would help in knowing how direct works to see if its the best route to go with it. Thanks for the great content!

Always great behind the scenes look at owning a store or working towards opening one, but the math is wrong. Purchase price $1728 Value 2214 - 20% fees = $1782
@rng-gamez2 жыл бұрын
Your right my math was off lol
@tcgfunkytown7242 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately 20% is a low estimate in terms of fees when it comes to TCGDirect. I have busted 100s of boxes and sell EVERY card that I can. The fees on the lower end of the spectrum are 30% up to 50% depending on how bad of a break it was. You also have to consider that you pay the TCG Direct fees then you ALSO have to pay Shipping to get your orders to the TCGPlayer. Depending on the value of the shipment, the cost is anywhere from 8 dollars up to 25 dollars with a flat rate cost and insurance. Ive been selling cards for a while and its becoming increasingly difficult to make a profit through TCG Direct, we pay for the convenience while they make all the profit. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I know and understand the struggle and I'm quite certain you do alot more volume than I do. I just dislike how the people who care for the aftermarket are constantly getting shivved to death because we care about the game and we care about the players. We want to provide cards for people but also we have to make a profit or we cant continue to do what we do.

@@tcgfunkytown724 if you have a brick an mortar or an easier way to push those higher value cards that’s when it becomes profitable. I try to sell only cards valued under a certain amount or surplus.
@tcgfunkytown7242 жыл бұрын
@@rng-gamez for sure brick and mortar is the best option. Selling cards for 20% off market is still profitable in an lgs situation. My goal was to open an lgs at some point in time its just a really difficult market to be in at the moment. I know I would do well but Magic is hurting because of the rapid-fire sets they are pushing out. People can't keep up with the amount of cards being released.

So when you 'sort' the cards, are you hand jamming them into the database per-card in order to calculate the total? Or is there some sort of automation that helps...

Hi Rob! When doing mass openings, do you ever set aside cards you feel are underpriced in the market and wait to sell them when when they appreciate?

If I think a card is undervalued i just save it for in store purchases only so my local players can pick up some undervalued cards rather than blow them out online

Question, how are the values for commons/uncommons calculated? Is it strictly market price or does it calculate a bulk price under a certain threshold? For example, a 7 cent common won’t actually get you 7cents if you’re just bulking out cards under a quarter or 50 cents
