I didn't but I would recommend you do, honestly 6 months and theyre holding up just fine, 3 coats in the summer sun though

kyle green the best deals are on black Friday, the second best deals are around Christmas time. I buy during paycheck times lol. if you want a good PL bar that isn't really that expensive look at rogues new ohio PL bar, that or the texas power bar. in terms of oly bars I think the eleiko comp is the best but that's 2x the pendlays price point

Hey Pando, I like the idea of buying a set of standard barbell change plates, I have two questions for you: Just curious why you didn't do the IWP approved colors, is it different for lbs vs kgs? or is that just your color preference? Kyle Maag hey kyle. Yes i am moving in and i havent gotten internet set up in the new place yet. Been internet less for almost 2 weeks lol anyways no issues with my paint, i did a few coats in the hot sun with minimal prep work (sanding) surprised to see yours is chipping you can always sand it down and re coat bud

Hey Pando, I have a question for you... I'm sure you've been lifting for a long time and have accumulated a lot of your equipment over the years. Your home gym is "Top Shelf". I'm new to power lifting and soon will be purchasing equipment for my home gym. Do you think that it's worth the money to buy the IWF/IPF approved equipment (Calibrated Plates/Certified Bars) from the start? I have a starting budget of $4000 and can spend $150 to $250 every month on additional equipment/accessories.

I don't think its necessary unless you plan to compete in certain feds. if accuracy is very important to you than you can always weigh each individual plates and make adjustments as you go. calibrated plates can cost 3 to 4 times as much as standard Olympic plates. starting out you want the basics, but I always recommending buying something overbuilt that you will have forever. that's a pretty good starting budget
