That was a fascinating interview. Jon Lovett is such a good interviewer and Ro is the perfect guest.

We need to "have more conversations" and "be more humble" doesn't work when the other side operates in bad faith.

I'm from the South. We used to be able to have conversations about taxation, the most effective sex ed curriculum, the best way to reduce abortion, whether we should have prayer in school...You can NOT have civil discourse with people who think you are a weak, naive, moronic sheep for not recognizing that the world is flat, the sky is green, the grass is blue and Trump is the second coming of Christ. I'm not trained to deprogram cultists. We are so far beyond differences of opinion and everyone having the same goal but disagreeing about how to get there. There used to be a social contract that provided us all with a certain sense of security. There were guardrails. There were rules. Then, Trump said, "Why? Why are we recognizing rules? Winning is all that matters, and if the whole thing burns, that's on them for not getting out of our way and giving us everything." And everyone else went, "Wow, yeah, why are we?" And it isn't just about thinking they're right, anymore. It's about seething hatred and a willingness to destroy themselves just to stick it to everyone else. Suggesting that we just need to be respectful and listen to each other is like asking if we REALLY tried listening to Hitler or Stalin or Gaddafi or Hussein or Kim or...Did we really try to see their point of view and find common ground? Did we do our best to compromise? How did that work out for Chamberlain? You can't reason with irrational or crazy.

It really bothers me that he said "the judges will keep ruling against the agency because the law hasn't changed." It has nothing to do with the law. The law didn't change when Bork's consumer prices doctrine was first implemented. The last law passed on antitrust I can find is from 1950; the cellar-kefauver act. The courts literally just started ruling against anti-trust action: that's it. There is no reason why the law has to be changed to allow judges to rule in favor of anti-trust action, they can go read the Lina Khan paper if they need to. The real reason we have to change the law is because the conservative-loaded hackneyed judiciary has to be forbidden from doing this.

9:26 .... 😅😅😅😅 Cheaper products is not a real antitrust policy.... antitrust is about fairness, not just for the buyer of the final product but also to the provider of the raw material.... monopolies with vertical integration are a more insulting practice.... 🤔🤔🤔

You should have asked him when is he going to make the billionaires pay their taxes! It's the concentration of wealth that causes poverty. Paying taxes is how our system was designed to fix this. It's one thing to try to get a law passed, it's a whole other thing when you're taking action to see to it that the laws already on the books are enforced. THAT! is what makes Ro Kanna "all talk no action!" - People are tearing down the walls because they don't have the luxury of time to wait for change. YOLO is not a throwaway phrase. For someone who represents the most billionaires, he sure is weak! And I'm a fan! But ineffective representation is just as bad as no representation. If he wants to make people see that voting for a party label makes a difference, there should be striking examples. Forcing billionaires to have a daycare center at a multi-billion dollar corporation isn't going to win over the voters he needs. We need to see the difference his billionaires are making with their influence and the only thing we're seeing is things getting worse. Had they paid their taxes from the communities they're stealing from, we'd have a functioning government. If Ro Kanna wants to make a difference, start by showing how he's returning the investments we've given to these corruption-laden billionaires!
